After returning to Avalon from Bracklam, I decided to just enjoy life. Every now and then I would sneak away from the castle or whatever troop of guards was watching me. I would either sneak into the forest or to a stream that was behind the castle. When I wasn't sneaking away, I was watching things from a window in the castle or training with the sword I got from the Bracklam governor. Sometimes I would get creative and look for materials to build a new device.
One day, when I was looking around my room for any spare parts from old creations, I passed by the Crystal that we found at Bracklam. I wondered what it could do. From what was told about it, I knew it was dangerous to touch without protection. The guard that had cut it off the rock carried it on his sword when he took it back to the carriage. The first guard that pick up when we got back to the castle died several seconds after he touched it. The second guard didnt make the same mistake and used his shield. Now it sat on the desk in my room. I didnt want to have to carry it with a sword or shield when I touched it so I decided to make a device to touch it without a sword or shield.
My father came in the room as I continued to look for materials. "What idea do you have now?" he asked notice me looking for parts.
"Something that allows people to pick up that with there bare hands" I replied pointing to the crystal on my desk.
He looked at the crystal and walked over to my desk. "And what is this?" he said about to grab it.
"DON'T TOUCH IT! Its killed everyone whose touched it." I quickly shouted. By the looks of it he didnt like my response.
"Well. I guess I'll let you get back to work." he said starting to walk out. Before he even got to the door he noticed the sword hanging by the door. It was the sword I got in Bracklam. "Where did you get that sword?" he asked staring at the sword.
"It was a gift from the Bracklam governor. It's suppose to represent power." I replied not knowing what he was about to do.
"Well it looks like a nice sword. I'm sure you'll find another use for it other than a wall decoration. Now I will let you back to your work." He started back out the door but I noticed he grabbed the sword on the way out.
"Why are you trying to take my sword?" I asked.
"Oh well it looks like it needs to be cleaned." he replied. I knew it was a lie.
"Its fine the way it is. I make sure to clean it everyday." It was the truth. I liked the idea of the sword shining.
"Oh... well I'll be leaving now." he said leaving. I was about to go back to work when I noticed a crystal missing from the blade. It was one of the blue crystals in it. It immediately came to me what happened. My own father robbed me. It was too late now though so I just continued to my work. I had the idea id take it back later when he wasn't expecting it. He kept most of his jewels in a box by his bed...
