A N: Hey guys! So my friend isn't planning on putting up her book until later this summer, so that gives me time to get in the lead in our competition. Also, I love love love to her from you guys, so starting now I'm gonna put up a chapter question. Ok, only one more thing: The first five people to vote on a chapter, I'll dedicate the next chapter to them. So today's dedication is to bookworm6679, even though the last chapter was to her also. Really though, she was the first to vote on my first two chapters. Okay, so enough with the note, here's the next chapter.

Chapter 3: The End of My World

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

That afternoon we left on the school's subway to meet my mentors. Who knew we even had such a thing? The nurse, Ellie Mistle, said that as an added bonus, each victor is given a mansion, only a few miles away from our school. They're all underground, because the school wants to keep it all a secret. According to Ellie, it's because the school doesn't wan't too many people trying to get in the games by getting into trouble. As if anyone would be so stupid.

Suddenly, it crosses my mind that I haven't met my other fellow tribute.

"Um, Miss Mistle," I start.

"Please Dear, call me Ellie," she cuts me off.

"Well, Ellie, you don't happen to know where my other tribute is, do you?"

"I'm afraid you'll have to wait until we reach Mentor's Mansions, that's what it's called, to find out," she says.

The anxiety is KILLING me. And I still haven't found out the new rules for the Semester Quell.

Ellie tells me to rest, and leads me to my room. It's big, cozy, and painted a lovely maroon color. It has a big King sized bed and an oversized easy chair. It kinda reminds me of a hotel I once stayed in.

I peel off my clothes, put on a light cotton nightgown I find in the dresser next to the bathroom, and plop down in the chair.

...............................................................

Only 15 minutes later, at six o' clock, according to the clock over the door, a servant comes to escort me into the Mansion of one of my mentors.

I immediately jump up to brush my hair. I also throw on a short, white evening dress.

------------------------------------------

The mansion of my mentors is big. It's about the size of my school. And it's under ground.

My escort and I step from the subway into the mansion. A large mahogany table is across the room, and a large chandelier hangs over it.

I take a seat.

"Good evening," my male mentor says.

"Agreed, Simon. Hello McKayla, I'm Hanna, and this is Simon. We're your mentors. As you know, we won the games when we were in seventh grade.

I would be a junior, and Simon a senior, but we're no longer required to go," Hanna tells me.

"So, how did you, you know, not die?" I ask.

"I won mostly due to my ability to hide," Simon is shorter than Hanna, and seems about five and a half feet tall.

"And I due to my high intelligence,"

They seem nice, and like they understand.

We take a seat at the table.

"So, where is the male tribute for my grade?" I ask

"Oh that's right, well, since it's the Semester Quell,"

"As you may know," Simon interrupts.

"Yes, well, this year, only a female tribute is reaped. So, you must choose another female tribute, and two male tributes. DeGoyler wants 48 tributes this year. But here's the catch: the girl must be your closest friend, one boy your worst enemy, the other, a close crush. They aren't required to be from your grade, and we do know if you lie about you crush or friend. We have eyes everywhere," She ends.

I was wrong about her.

And now I'm unconscious again.

Aghhh!!!!! The drama!!

So hear's the question: Would you risk lying to save your friend or crushes life, even if the penalty was death?
