AN: Hi! I have a lot of free time this summer, so I'm planning on at least one chapter a week, or more.
Ok, so, this chapter's dedication is to:
soccerlove82. She has two AMAZING books, and definently deserves more votes than she's gotten. So go read her books. Like right now.
Sorry for the late update, I've been packing to go to Chicago.

Chapter 4a: Enemy Turned Friend
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The night I found out about the Semester Quell, I blacked out, and slept through the night.
Now it's morning, and I have to pick my fellow tributes:
Enemy: Easy, Zack Fisher.
Friend: Not the best friend ever, but my closest one - Kaylie Mellark.
Crush: Matt Mayer. All I want is for him to not figure out I have a crush on him.
I decided to write my choices down, to give to Hanna and Simon.
I walked downstairs to see my breakfast already ready for me. Simon,
Hanna and "Ellie" are patiently waiting for me.
I slipped into my chair next to Hanna, and pass her my note.
"Interesting choices, McKayla," Hanna
reads the note,"I will give this to the school."
Simon picks up the note, reads it, and nods his head in agreement.
"As for worrying about Mr. Mayer, he will only be informed that he is either a friend, enemy, or crush. He will not be informed which," Hanna informs me,"Also, you get first dibs on the kids in your grade, so if a ninth grader picks Matt, that's where he goes, not with you. And if that doesn't qualify, any grade below you has a chance to take him, although I doubt that shall happen,"Hanna sits down, short winded.
"Now we need to prepare for the assembly with the school," Mrs. Mistle, uh, Ellie, tells us.
I gulped down my food in half an hour, took a quick shower, and hopped on the train.
15 minutes later, we arrived at the school. Summer is here, so school is out. Reaping day was technically my last, but I still qualify as a seventh grader. Even so, today everyone was here again. We walked into the auditorium, and were directed to sit in the front row.
"Welcome all, to our Semester Meeting,"a familiar voice says. "I am Mayor Richard DeGoyler, of our fair town. I would like to invite our tributes up to the stage."
I walk slowly, making my way to the stage, to the slow claps of the audience. Once onstage, I am directed to stand on a small plate of metal that looks like it measures about 15 feet across, and looks suspiciously like a bomb plate.
A:N - Sorry for the short Chapter, I'm really busy right now. Expect a longer chapter tomorrow or Tuesday.
Chapter Questions: Do you think McKayla is to young? Why did I pick a seventh grader? This week, the first person to comment the right answer gets a dedication, so no more vote dedications.
Bye!
