The Making of…
Chapter 30
Red Carpet and Rumours
“Kira!” Liv yelled from outside my hotel room. “Let me in!” I rolled my eyes as she pounded on the door.
“I just got out of the shower!” I called back, “Give me a moment!”
It was the evening of the premiere, and Liv had demanded that we do our hair and makeup together, but I wasn’t going to let her in when I wasn’t even dressed!
“Kira!” She yelled again as I tugged on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, “You let me in right now or I’ll-”
“Do what?” I smiled sweetly as I opened the door – towlling my damp hair.
“Ugh! Finally!” She huffed, stomping into my room and plopping down on my bed. She pulled several cases of makeup out of her handbag and I sighed. I’d thought Lou looked dangerous with a makeup brush in her hand… Liv just looked downright diabolical.
“Right, let’s get this over with then…” I muttered, brushing my hair out as she advanced upon me.
Half an hour later, I was apparently ‘complete’ and Liv was applying her makeup whilst I straightened her hair.
“So uh, what are we supposed to do tonight?” I asked as I tried not to burn her hair.
“Oh you just walk down the red carpet, answer a few questions, watch a movie and then we have the after party!” She answered cheerfully.
“I see… So it’s like a hyped up version of going to the cinema?”
“Yeah basically.” She smiled, “Right, I’m off to get dressed. We’re all getting picked up in half an hour, so the guys are meeting us downstairs. I’ll see you down there, ok?”
“Sure.” I nodded as she picked up her stuff and left. I walked into the bathroom, where I’d hung up my dress. I quickly changed into it and smiled at my reflection in the mirror as I smoothed the silky teal fabric.
I’d chosen this dress because of the usual straps around the neck and shoulders – I’d just thought it was a little more interesting than the other plain dresses I saw in the shop (and apparently I didn’t have the complexion for sparkly clothes… Since when was sparkly a colour?). I grabbed my little silver clutch bag and slipped my phone inside, but not before seeing the message from Liv.‘Hey, I’m downstairs now! All the guys are ready! Hurry up! Liv x’
I cast a last nervous glance at my reflection before leaving my room and heading downstairs. The hotel had a pretty big, fancy staircase that lead down to the reception area – as the elevator didn’t go all the way down. From the top of the staircase I peeked down and saw everyone assembled below me. The guys were all dressed in suits and… Was Liv wearing a bright red catsuit? Okay then…
“Ki! Get your ass down here now!” Liv cried excitedly as she spotted me.
“Calm down!” I grinned as I ascended the stairs slowly, one hand trailing along the banister, “Do you want me to fall and break my neck?” I flicked out the hem of my dress and skipped down the last few steps, suddenly feeling self conscious as everyone turned to look at me. I walked over to Liv who was grinning like a Cheshire Cat.
“Well? How do I look?” I asked, twirling a little.
“Gorgeous!” She chirped and I smiled.
