I could go on and on about the things I did just to see Julia during our freshman year.

Whenever I arrive in school I always pass by her classroom. I mean, we all are, since their class is the first room in the building. But here's the thing. I figured out at what time she'll surely be in class, and I'd make sure I would see her before the bell rings (even just a glimpse!). Good thing she's always early and that I could see her from across the room, with just the right angle from the door.

On monday mornings during our flag ceremony, I would try getting near beside her in line. Although it's always a tough one since we're in line by height. And she's like the tallest of the bunch and I'm, well...me!

There was this one time though, when I was running late. Guess who I almost stood beside with? I was giddy at first to know how near she is from me. But then as I watched the guys (who, God knows how, were tall like her) talking so casually to her, I realized how all of them are also enamored by her charm. Of course, it's not just me who can see that.

In the cafeteria during recess, I would even see Carlos giving her some sweets. He's the kind of guy who is bold enough to do that. Well, for one, he's athletic. And two, he's got the looks to back him up.

I would be sulking the whole time whenever I witness it.

...

A headlock.

"Cheer up, Josh!" Cried Mia. She tightened her grip and I pretended to be choking. She's not actually strong nor does her headlock really hurt but whenever she does that to me I always surrender. Girl pride or whatever she calls it.

It was recess and we found a good spot in the cafeteria; a place where I could have a good view of Julia.

Letting me go, Mia sat on the chair across from of me and looked at me pityingly.

"Don't sit there," Jake, who was eating 'pancit' beside me, waggled his fork at Mia; shooing her away. "You're blocking the whole view."

Mia raised an eyebrow at him. "I thought we agreed not to encourage him with this?"

Jake blew her a kiss then continued to eat. They knew how infatuated I was with Julia. Mia would say sternly, "Look, Josh, I understand it's just a crush. Like a happy crush! But lately you get all down and upset like a kicked puppy or something. It's not healthy."

When her 'Mom' mode was on, me and Jake would feign in giving her a kiss. She get's grossed out and backs away from us real quick.

Although Mia has a point. I can't simply ignore Julia's presence. If only there's an on and off switch that I could flip over somewhere, then I would glady do so.

But wherever I go, my eyes would immediately wander to find her.

I'm already drunk from her spell and I bet she doesn't even know it.
