Romantics loves using the phrase 'as if time stood still'.

Which is tragic, really.

Because there's always those words 'as if' since time can never actually stop or even slow down.

In a matter of seconds, your heart quickens, your breath stops, your mind numbs and unable to think.

It's as if time stood still...

And all you could do is press replay in your head and see flashbacks of what happened over and over again until you remember all the particular details one might not bother to notice. In fact, you might even tweak it a little by having it in slow motion and a song softly playing in the background. All for having another taste of that sweet moment. As if time really stood still...

"So, what's our plan for tomorrow?" Asked Mia as she snatched my phone away and sat next to us. Her seat is all the way in front and she comes to us whenever she has the chance.

"Hey, give that back!" I demanded and wrestled her through it.

"What plan?" Jake grabbed the phone from her and handed it back to me.

"Oh, come on," Mia whined. "We never do anything fun outside campus anymore."

Jake sighed and said matter-of-factly. "It's a Saturday. I need to practice."

Mia glowered at him; she's never the one to get turned down so easily. "Josh, I'll see you at 4pm."

"Ok." I answered with a nod then shrugged when Jake looked at me sharply. "What? I've got nothing to do anyway."

Mia smirked at him. "And you, in case you bother to show up,"

They outstared each other for a moment.

"Wear something normal. Please."

I snorted. Jake always prefer wearing undershirts when going out. It makes Mia crazy mad.

"At least she said please?" I added when I saw him looking at me in disbelief.

"Is Jake here yet?" It's the first thing she said when I opened the gate for her.

Sometimes I wonder if Mia secretly likes Jake.

"I hope he brings his car," I heard her mumbling when she walked past me. "If he doesn't come, let's just borrow his car."

Or not.

"I haven't received any reply from him so I'm not sure if he's coming."

We proceeded to wait at our veranda with biscuits and juice already laid out in front for us to drink and eat.

"You don't have to bother, Tita." Mia said with the tone I recognize as 'kind-and-adorable-Mia'. But it backfired easily because Mama's got all charmed by her and still insisted. We ended up having too much food prepared.

"Sorry about this, I only told her we'll meet here, I swear."

Then we heard a car beeping. Mia hooted like she just won 1st place.

Cut to us devouring our snacks.

"So, what's the plan?" Jake asked in between bites.

"WelI, I was thinking," Mia munched on some biscuits. "We could go and chill at the new cafe down the road, just beside our school."

"Oh, yes. Like we're not chilling right now." Jake pointed out with a snort.

"Not when I tell you who works there." Mia retorted.

"Who?" I asked, sensing something with the way she grins at me.

"You know Julia's best friend, Anne? They own that cafe."

Jake and I nodded, eagerly listening to what she'll say.

"Guess who works there during the weekend?" She asked, wiggling her eyebrows at us.
