Part 12 - Julia

I've always wanted to experience what it's like working at a restaurant or even a cafe. And I never knew how serious it was before we started the 1 week training for Tita Andrea's newly built cafe. It opens this weekend and Anne and I are all set for being a waitress and also a cashier.

I couldn't contain my excitement when the day came. I was grinning the whole time during our opening procedure and game planning for the day.

The cafe was brimming with people as the afternoon went on. It was tiring but it felt very fulfilling for me. I was still on fire.

And I could see Anne also relishing the moment, talking to people. She definitely loves talking to people.

She's the cashier for today and I'm one of the waitresses. We'll be switching duties tomorrow and I couldn't wait to try it too.

I was wiping a table when I heard the bell ring, indicating that a customer just stepped in.

"Welcome to Vintage Soul." I greeted them with a smile.

Three people came in and  it was Joshua and his friends. I felt my cheeks blush.

It's a good thing that Mia was there to distract me. She waved to say hi and I waved back. Joshua was smiling at me and he looked really cute with his plain black shirt & white capri shorts.

The tall guy that was with them ( I still don't know what his name was) went to have a seat first and asked for the menu to which I immediately handed.

"It's very cozy here, Julia. I like it!" Mia complimented.

I thanked her and chatted her for a bit.

When I finally got their orders, I noted that he got a caramel frappuccino and honey chicken  sandwich. He must love sweets.

Anne had this knowing look on her face when I reached her for the tab and I could tell that she was stopping herself from smiling too much.

I was completely aware of his presense that I must've been moving so stiffly the whole time he was there. At the corner of my eyes I could see him laughing and telling stories. He's obviously trying to impress Mia with the way he makes goofy faces at her and how fixated he was when she's saying something.

Mia and the tall guy (was it Jake or Jay?) already went out of the cafe and Joshua was the only one left waiting for the change.

My heart was beating so fast when I handed him the change. Our hands barely touched but I could still feel it afterwards.

"Thanks." He said with his lopsided smile, his dimple showing.

"You're welcome," I smiled shyly. "Come back again?"

Gosh, I hope I didn't sound too eager.

"Yeah, of course," he nodded.

"I will."
