Chapter 1

Gajeel P.O.V

"That pink haired bastard is late..." I grumbled. I sat on a bench outside an abandoned building, our appointed meeting place. I drummed my fingers impatiently on the sheath of my katana as I looked up and down the street.

Someone smacked the back of my head."Dick." I said as the man grinned at me. He had salmon pink hair and tanned skin. His eyes were a dark onyx. He wore black pants, a white button up shirt that was untucked and a short sleeved black jacket.

"Long time no see Steel."He grinned as we fist bumped. I grinned"Gihee, yeah Salamander. What's it been? 10? Nearly 15 years?" He shrugged as I got up.

"Something like that. Come on man." He lead me down the deserted road, though as we went people could be seen here and there. He lead me to a set of large iron gates that lead to an even larger manor.

"You sure this is ok? I mean, an outsider joining the family?" I asked him. He grinned, raising an eyebrow."Is big bad Black Steel scared?" "Tch yeah right."

He laughed, clapping my shoulder."Hey don't worry! You arnt the first! I guess you could say Fairy Tail is a bit... Unorthodox." "Ooh big word Salamander." I laughed as he punched my arm.

We entered the gates and proceeded through the manor doors. I didn't not see what I expected. Instead of a quiet room, it was more like a rowdy bar. There were tables scattered around the great room, and there was a bar against the far room. There were people laughing, shouting, fighting and drinking.

I followed him as he lead me to a set of stairs at the far end and up to a door. He didn't even knock. "Hey gramps!" he shouted as he threw the door open.

"Really Natsu? Knock once, that's all I ask." an extremely short old man said from a desk across the room. He stood up and met us halfway.

I bowed slightly and he chuckled,"You don't have to bow, it's too formal." I chuckled as I stood back up. "So your Gajeel eh? I remember your father when he was here. How is he?" I shrugged.

"Still underground last I heard." He nodded. "Well at least he is alive. Now are you sure you wish to join? You are assigned a partner and your stuck with them. Can you handle that?"

I nodded." They way you say that tells me it won't be Natsu." "Sorry man I already got a partner." Natsu grinned.

"Follow me." We followed him onto the landing that over looked the bar. He hopped up on to the banister. "Listen up brats!" There was silence as they all looked at him.

He motioned for me to stand beside him, so I did. "I want you all to welcome a new brother, Black Steel Gajeel Redfox! Make him feel at home!" There were loud cheers and clinking of beer glasses. I could help but smile a little. "McGarden, a moment if you would." He called.

The bar went back to it's loud and casual way as a girl walked up the stairs.

She was very short, maybe reached my chest. She had short blue hair that was pulled back by a head band an large pale brown eyes. Red glasses with little wings framed her eyes. She wore black jeans and an orange tunic style shirt. A gun was holstered to her right leg and two short blades were sheathed horizontally at the back of her waist. A handle poking out of each hip.

"Yes sir?" she asked in a soft voice. "I finally have a partner for you!" He pat my shoulder before hopping off the banister.

"Eh? You want me to partner up with this shrimpy woman?!" She took a step closer to me and I had to lean back a little so I could see her. She smiled sweetly at me, I felt suspicious.

"Your making an awful first impression Black Steel." She said it with venom. "Just so you know, Natsu may have been able to get you in here.... But if you do anything to compromise the family, I will make sure you leave this manor, and this EARTH permanently... Is that clear?"

I stared at her a little shocked. 'Did this pipsqueak seriously threaten me?' "Mr.Redfox?" "Tch whatever." She did the impish sweet smile again. "Good. Make sure you are here by eight tonight, we have first patrol." And with that she turned and walked down the stairs.

"Who the hell does she think she is?!" Natsu laughed at me. "Levy is the best around. I think the only person who is above her is gramps here. She is at the same level as Erza and Mira."

I shivered slightly at the names of the two devil women. "She's going to be an interesting partner."I muttered"

Natsu grinned"You have no idea."
