Chapter 4

Levy P.O.V

I made my way to the guild early the next morning. I hummed quietly to myself as I walked through the manor doors.

"Ah Levy! Don Markarov has a job for you!" Mira called to me from the bar. I groaned,"So early?!" I sat at the bar and laid my head on the counter. She giggled and placed a small folder on the counter."Miraaaa!" "You can have Gajeel read it."

I grumbled."Just get me my breakfast woman..." She laughed a little and went to make my usual breakfast. I heard the manor doors open and heard the sound of heavy boots. They were new but also familiar. It must be Gajeel.

I turned an saw his talk shape. "Hey Gajeel!" I smiled. "Morning," he grumbled. "What's this?" H e grabbed the folder as he sat next to me. "It's our first job as partners."

"Job?" I nodded "As I'm sure you've realized we are not your average mafia family. On top of the normal things, we do things for the community, jobs. Sometimes they come from out of town too. They are anything from catching bandits, stealing, assassinations and so on."

He nodded and flipped open the folder as Mirajane set a plate of bacon and eggs in front of me. I started to eat as he read. "So a wife is asking us to tail her rich husband. He has been going to more parties and business trips and she is afraid he is having an affair. If he isn't we just report back. If he is, she wants him dead."

I nodded. "Sounds easy enough. What's the name?" "Marco Highwater." I started running info in my head. Highwater was known in the mining industry, he had found the largest diamond mind of the century. Tonight was actually a party celebrating the birthday of a business partner. Gajeel and I could sneak in as guests and keep an eye on him.

"How do you feel about parties?" I asked as I took a bite of egg. "Eh?" "Highwater is a big mining boss. A business partner is having a party tonight so of course he will attend. And so will we."I finished off my breakfast.

"You think of everything don't you?" I grinned. "That's my job! I'm the brains as well as the brawn!" "Oi!" I laughed at him.

"Well if you guys are going to a black tie party you have to look the part." Mira said. "Evergreen will be in in about an hour."

"Evergreen?" Gajeel raised an eyebrow. "She makes disguises clothing and protective gear for everyone. She can find us something to ware for tonight." He nodded.

Gajeel P.O.V

I fidgeted in the suit that Evergreen had found for me. It wasn't tight but I was not used to wearing suits. I stood at the bar waiting for Levy to come down.

The sound of heels drew my attention to the stairs. My breath caught in my throat.

Levy came down the stairs in a sleeveless red down. The neckline dipped softly in the front and the back plunged to show her creamy white back. The gown reached to the floor and had a slit up to her hip. She wore bright red heels that would give her a bit of height to me. When she walked, I could see a tattoo of a dragon curling around her leg. She still had her glasses and her blue hair was pulled into a messy bun.

She walked up to me and smiled. "Here." She reached up and straightened my tie and I had to remember to breath.

"You two look so cute together!" Mirajane squeeled." Shut up Mira."Levy said calmly. Mira simply smiled and set two gun on the counter for us. I tucked mine into my jacket and as I was about to ask Levy, she strapped it to her covered leg.

"And these, Lucy got a hold of them for you." she placed invites for the party on the counter. I snatched them and put them in my pocket.

"Alzack will be driving you. You can't walk to a party like this." We nodded an headed out front where the gunman was waiting in a black escalade.

I opened the door for Levy and helped her in before following her. "You ready?" she asked. I nodded.
