Chapter 6

Levy P.O.V

There was a throbbing pain in my side when I woke up. Oh right, I got shot. I opened my eyes though it did no good. Someone had taken my glasses off so everything was just flat black.

I rubbed my eyes and sat up, wincing. The sound of someone's heavy breathing came from beside me. A snore to me they were asleep.

The door opened and I turned to the sound. "Oh good your awake!" a small voice said. I smiled. "Hey Wendy." She was the youngest here and the manors only doctor. She picked something up as she walked towards me. She gently set my glasses on my face and I blinked a little. "Thanks." I smiled.

I turned towards the snoring sound and saw Gajeel. I flushed a little. "How long have I been out?" "All night. He hasn't left your side." She smiled again.

"How's the damage?" she sat on the end of my bed. "Both bullets went through cleanly, a weeks rest and you can go on another job." I groaned.

She giggled. "I need to tell Don what happened." I sighed. "Gajeel told him everything. You just rest." I nodded as she left.

I sighed and stared out the window. I was this close, this close to getting her. Damn that Ultear.... I heard Gajeel stir beside me and I looked at him as he yawned. "Morning." I smiled. He grumbled and sat up more in his chair.

"You didn't have to stay you know." I said. "Your my partner, I had to make sure you didn't bleed to death." I shrugged. "Iv had worse." I said.

We were quiet for a moment."Your supposed to tell me the story." he said quietly. I sighed a little and nodded.

"Ten years ago, my parents were trying to start up a business at the time. My father borrowed some money from a small time gang. When time came to pay he almost had it all. He asked for a little more time... They said they were adding interest and expected another 3000 in one week.... They took me as collateral. They said they would torture me until my father paid..." I took a dead shuttering breath.

"My father begged and pleaded for then to let me go. But of course they didnt. First they branded me."My hand went to my right side where it burned from the memory. "Then they took my sight, using acid. I'm not sure how my eyes are still intact... Not long after that my parents arrived to fight. They were easily killed. Then Lucy showed up." Gajeel raised his eyebrow.

"Lucy and I have been friends since we were in diapers. She had just joined Fairy Tail before this happened. So when she found out I had been taken she brought reinforcements. They were able to rescue me." I sighed.

"That gang was Crime Socier..." I heard Gajeel gasp. "They call themselves the Justice System, but really they are a gang trying to gain power by getting rid of the other families and gangs. We here at Fairy Tail are the only ones who know who they truly are..."

I took off my glasses and rubbed my eyes. "They havnt realized that the entire family knows who they are, so they are trying to get rid of me.... Tying up loose ends and what not."

"Well they won't get to you. I won't let it happen." Gajeel said. I looked on his direction. "No one is gonna lay their hands on my partner." I couldn't help but smile.

Gajeel P.O.V

It's been a week now since the party and Levy telling me her story. I couldn't imagine anything that brutal happening to a girl like her. I always made sure she stayed in my sight, I walked her home and picked her up in the morning.

Since the appearance of Crime, Don Markarov has boosted security at the manor. Patrols were done in fours instead of pairs. The second floor of the manor had a sniper at each side of the house, four all together.

It was a usual noisy day at the manor, I sat at the bar next to the shrimp as she read. I downed a beer and laid my head on the counter. We havnt been able to work but soon we would be allowed.

Everything went dead silent as a sniper started firing. Everyone looked towards the windows. It was pitch black outside except for several small lights. The lights got closer before we realized what they were. The moltoves broke through the windows and shattered, spreading fire across the floors and windows.

Everyone scattered for the door, tripping over others as they went. Everyone made it out and the moltov throwers made a break for it.

We let them go a we turned to our burning manor. Some people laid on the ground, having gotten smashed by the flaming bottles.

"Bisca!" Alzack was screaming at the blazing home. She had been one of the snipers. Al tried to limp towards the building but he was seriously burned. Levy stopped him. People were trying to put out the fire and sirens could be ears far in the distance.

Levy turned towards the crowd." Natsu, Grey and Gajeel come here!" We all ran to her. "I'm going to go an get the shooters out." "Levy!-" she stopped my protest. "As soon as I find one I will break out the window and have her jump. You guys catch." before we could stop her she soaked herself with a hose and ran to the burning doors.
