So today started out like any other day, I got up, showered, and went to work, but I left early, thanks to Cody for taking over for me, and took a ninety minute drive to Jack's house, which should've probably only been fifty minutes, but LA traffic always has to work against you, so you learn to work with it. After I had parked my car in the loop that was the driveway I got out and scanned the cars that were already parked, looking for Travis'. I didn't see his car, so I sighed and began to walk to the door. I heard the sound of car tires crunching gravel behind me, and then I heard someone yell, "Hey, Jess, wait for me!" I smirked and stood on the bottom step of Jack's porch while Travis parked and then came running over. "Might as well walk in together. Since we're supposed to be a couple and all now." he joked. I laughed and we continued up the steps and saw a note on the door.
If you're one of my actors, just walk on in and follow the arrows. If you're the pizza man, just open the door and holler, I'll be here as quick as possible. Sorry, my doorbell is busted, I need to fix that. If you're a friend, I'll get back to you, and if you want to sell something, sorry, not interested, my actors take priority, have a nice day.-Jack Brown
We opened the door and followed another sign to where the rest of the cast was gathered. Upon our entrance, Jack said, "Travis! Jessi! Nice to see you guys already making entrances together. I have a spot saved for you two right here!" and he patted a couple pillows set on the floor. Everyone in the room turned to look at us as we walked across the room, avoiding other people's pillows, sometimes stepping on the empty pillows of others who weren't here yet.
"Alright." Jack said a minute after Travis and I had sat down and a couple other people had joined us. "Some general announcements that I'll probably repeat at the end, so it's ok that not quite everyone is here yet. If you look on the piece of paper in front of your pillow, you'll find my number, along with all the other important people's names and numbers, go ahead and take this chance to enter them into your phone. Unless of course you're one of those cool kids who already have our numbers, Lacey, Lindsey, Luke, my triple L team, I see you guys, just start putting those dates in your calendar." Jack stopped talking to let us all fiddle with our various phones, so the room was instead full of the soft sound of, probably recently manicured, fingernails hitting touch screens or the clicks of someone (*cough* Travis *cough*) who had left the key click sound on on their iPhone.
The last three people drifted in during this silence and the people sitting by them quickly told them what was going on and their phones were in their hands within thirty seconds of sitting down. After another minute Jack was speaking again, "Alright, most of you probably have put all that in your phones now, so to keep you from starting to play games, I shall continue..."
Jack was coming to the end of his announcements when we heard the front door opened and shut by someone who's semi-familiar voice yelled, "Fresh off the press!" and came walking into the room with a wagon carrying two boxes. "Jonathan!" Jack exclaimed, spryly leaping up from his spot on the floor and walking over to greet his brother. When the two brothers stood next to each other, the difference was much more notable. Both were tall and slim, but Jack was in a t-shirt, zip up hoodie and jeans, and had been letting a beard start to form on his face, while Jonathan was wearing slacks, a button down shirt and tie and was clean-shaven. And when they walked, Jack's gait was more on the bouncy side, whereas Jonathan's was brisk and purposeful.
Jack opened the boxes and happily announced to us, "Scripts! Just in time too, Jon." Jonathan gave a tight lipped smile, clearly he wasn't a fan of the nickname. "Jonathan," Jack said, noticing this and correcting himself, "Can you go into my office and get the highlighters? They should be on top wrapped in a rubberband." Jonathan nodded and walked away. Jack quickly turned to one of the actors and said, "Luke, if you go into my bedroom, there should be a case full of black binders, get someone and carry them down with you." Luke was sitting on the opposite side of Jack's pillow from us, so he glanced at Travis, and he nodded in response, saying, "Lead the way." And so they went on their mission. "While they're doing that, Lacey, Lindsey, Jessi, help me hand these out. Start from the back and work your way forward, that should be easier." Jack instructed us. So we started passing out scripts and while we worked, Travis and Luke returned and started handing out the empty binders.
Jonathan finally returned, so either the office was on the opposite end of the house, or the highlighters had not been where Jack had said they were. And he and Jack quickly began distributing the highlighters around the group. Once everyone either had a highlighter or someone to share one with Jack returned to his pillow and Jonathan leaned against the door frame and we were instructed to begin the read through.

Finally we reached the end of the script, mouths dry and stomachs growling. "Lunchtime!" Jack cried happily and told us all to go into the backyard. This was when I noticed that Jonathan had disappeared, having had my head in my script trying to highlight and keep up with where we were at the same time.
We walked out a set of French doors onto the covered porch and stared out over the perfectly green lawn and into a garden. Luke, Lacey, and Lindsey all walked directly into the grass to a bench under a tree. "How much you want to bet that he's dated and slept with both of them multiple times?" Travis whispered to me. "As much as I'll bet that they're trying to figure out who's with who here." I replied, looking at their expressions as they scanned the crowd and whispered back and forth.
The crowd started thinning as people went to go explore the gardens or just found places to sit. Travis and I looked around, trying to decide where we were going to go as a blonde girl walked up to us and introduced herself, smiling. "My name's Jenny." she said, looking between Travis and myself as she continued, "I was wondering if I could join you two for this lunch thing, I kind of don't know anyone here, so I figured I may as well get to know my cast mates." "Of course you can join us." Travis replied, smiling at Jenny, "I'm Travis, and this is my neighbor Jessi." She raised her eyebrows and I quickly clarified, "We live in the same building, his apartment is a few floors above mine. We're not neighbor neighbors, but uh, yeah."
What's wrong with me? Jenny is really pretty and Travis is obviously attracted to her, but why is that bothering me? I don't think of Travis like that, do I? No, no I don't.
We found a table just as the pizzas started being brought out and passed around to each group of people. After a bit of introductory talk between the three of us, where we were from and why we were out here and all that, Travis asked Jenny a question that had clearly been bugging him the entire time, "Were you at the cast party Friday?" Jenny looked taken aback by the abrupt change in topic, but quickly collected herself answering, "No, I was spending time with one of my sisters while she was in town, and her daughter who came along too." Travis was clearly put at ease with this answer when he said, "Ok, I had hoped that you hadn't been there, because otherwise I would've felt bad for forgetting such a pretty face." 'Smooth Trav.' I thought to myself as he continued talking to Jenny. I took a bite of my cheese filled crust and stood up, grabbing my paper plate. "I'm gonna go mingle a bit." I said when the two looked at me, "Y'all can keep talking." And with that I turned and walked towards the entrance to the main garden, hoping I could find somewhere to be alone for a bit.
