It's been two weeks since the cast meeting. I'm no longer working for target, how could I now? I'm too busy to actually keep up a regular schedule there. Travis and I have been put through chemistry building activities, along with Jenny, but more in a friendship sort of way, as we found out that she was playing my best friend in the movie. And then we had training for various things that we're going to have to use in the movie, and just generally meeting up and running through lines together. But tonight, we're just going out for a dinner and movie, hopefully without having to talk about our movie. Cody was coming along too, so hopefully that would help keep the talk from drifting there...or it could encourage it.
Cody showed up outside of my apartment at quarter to six and we got on the elevator to go to Travis' apartment. We knocked on the door and a minute later Travis appeared, ready to go, with Jenny standing next to him. I smiled as I greeted Jenny and introduced her to Cody, and then gave Travis a look of 'I thought this was just friends going out to the movies without bringing our movie into it' and he shrugged shyly, trying to motion to Cody and I mouthed the word "friends." After that he gave me a look of 'she is a friend!' and I rolled my eyes and started down the hall.
The four of us piled into Travis' car and he drove us to a little family owned pizza place outside of LA. Travis got out first and helped Jenny out and then as I leaned to the door he gave Cody a look and Cody quickly stuttered, "Wait, don't move, I'll be right there." He stumbled out of the car and ran around the back, appearing at my door within a couple seconds. He opened the door and extended a hand, mumbling, "M'lady." I smirked as I took his hand and got out of the car. He shut the door and we jogged to catch up to Travis and Jenny, who were waiting at the door.
"Analysis from the lady?" Travis joked once we reached him. "He's getting better, other than the fact that he needs reminding." I joked. Since the cast party, whenever Travis is free, he tries to give Cody 'Lessons in Romantics.' We walked into the restaurant, it wasn't too busy, but probably about average for a Tuesday night. The hostess quickly seated us at a table and Cody observed Travis for a cue on what to do. He saw Travis pull out a chair for Jenny and did that to the one diagonal from her for me. Then, after I had sat down, Cody took the seat next to me, which Travis had already started walking towards, as it was across from Jenny. Travis just gave a half smile and turned back to the seat next to Jenny instead.
The waiter came and took our drink orders, and Cody and Jenny started talking to each other and my phone buzzed. I looked down at it, then looked up at Travis. He gave a glance to the two people next to us talking and I rolled my eyes, unlocking my phone to see what he had to say.
T: So Cody sits next to his date?
M: Hey! He tried!
M: Plus, I don't think that he's quite caught on that this has apparently turned into a date
T: God, he's got a thick skull
M: I know, I know
We quickly ended our text conversation and started talking to the other two people at the table. The waiter came back with our drinks and Travis ordered a pizza and we continued talking. The pizza came, and was gone soon after, mostly thanks to Cody. Then Travis paid, since it had been just the one pizza he insisted, and we all piled into the car to go to the movies, though this time, it seemed that Cody and Jenny were together.
When we got to the movies, Cody opening the door moved a lot quicker, and thankfully he had never had a problem with the guy being the one to pay, and he bought Jenny's ticket. Travis sighed and walked with me to the snack bar, but we each bought our own snacks, since this had originally been a friend gathering, so we did all have money. Once all four of us had gotten our food we made our way to our theatre and scrambled up the stairs to find seats for all four of us. Travis sat between me and Jenny and I was on the end of our group, Cody at the other end, on the other side of Jenny.
Once the movie started, everything seemed fine, though I did occasionally catch Travis glaring grumpily towards Cody, in response to which I'd nudge his arm, not wanting him to have a bad night out just because Cody 'stole his girl.' After the movie was over and we were back at the building, Cody said goodbye to Jenny and Travis, Travis grunting in response, and I walked with Cody to his car, Travis having gone with Jenny to hers. As we walked, Cody was going on and on about Jenny and I just nodded and made other appropriate responses when necessary. We made it to his car, and Cody hugged me tightly, before climbing in his car and buckling in, I waved as he pulled out of his spot, and made my way to the entrance of the building, sighing bitterly as I began to walk off.
I was surprised to find Travis waiting for me in the lobby. "Hey." he said, smiling shyly. I gave a greeting of my own and he asked if I wanted to go up to his place and run lines or just hang out or something. I smiled and agreed, but I told him if he wanted to run lines we'd have to stop off at my apartment first. That caused him to immediately remove that from his list of options and I grinned, glad that we were going to end up having this night off from the movie. So with that, Travis casually set his arm across my shoulder and we started towards the elevator, just two friends, ready to hang out for a few more hours.
