Jacob was freaking out.

He scanned the room. Kaya was laid out on the couch, appearing to be asleep. Robert was on the floor, on his stomach, also appearing to be asleep. After looking at them to make sure they were breathing, he knew they were alive. There were three big men in the room- the one that was holding the gun to Jacob’s head was the biggest. They were in the usual getup- black suits and glasses to cover their eyes.

Karma was in a chair in between the other two men, hands tied behind her back. A gag was in her mouth. Panic was in her eyes.

He took a deep breath and tried to access the room further, looking for a way he could get them all out. In his mind, he knew it was impossible, but hope was kind of the last thing he had to try.

“Don’t try to get out of this one, Jacob.” One of the big guys that was by Karma said. He was white and bald. “If you don’t want anything to happen to your pretty little girlfriend I suggest you cooperate.” His voice was deep and bold. It sent chills down Jake’s spine.

He cooperated. What other choice did he have? The guy holding the gun to his head (let’s call him Guy #2) moved out the way and Jacob saw there was a chair across from Karma especially for him. He sat down, and his hands were handcuffed behind his back. He glared at Guy #2.

“Now,” Bald Guy spoke. “You know you’ve screwed up, right?”

“What are you going to do to her?” Jake asked. He had been around these people long enough to know how cruel they were, so he expected nothing but something awful. He wanted to seem strong, especially with Karma wiggling around and breathing harshly from fear, but his voice came out shaky.

“I mean, we even gave you time, buddy. We thought you might have had enough sense to run. I know I was going to have fun chasing you. But you made it too easy, Jacob. The fact that you were in the first place we looked is so…. Boring.”

“What the fuck are you going to do to her?” He asked again.

Bald Guy smiled. “Usually in a situation like this, we’d be ordered to kill her. Or make you do it.”

His heart skipped a beat.

Keep it together, Jacob.

“But,” Bald Guy sneered. “We have special orders for this one. Probably because we owe it to her mother. I hated that she had to go, she was such a nice lady. Pretty too, just like her daughter.” He says and strokes Karma’s cheek. Karma flinches away from him and starts yelling at him into her gag, but her words were unrecognizable. She starts struggling profusely, rocking in the chair and screaming, wet hot tears running down her face now. Jacob watched and his lower lip started quivering and his throat started clogging up. This was his fault. Whatever would happen next was his fault.

“Look,” He tried to keep his gaze away from Karma now, otherwise he’d breakdown and look weak in front of all these guys, which was the last thing he wanted to do. They fed on weakness, and they were starving right now. “Don’t hurt her. She has absolutely nothing to do with any of this. You can take me. You can do whatever you want to do to me. Just don’t hurt her. Please.” He pleaded but it was useless. There was nothing he could do anymore.

“It’s too late for that, Jacob. You see this?” Bald guy produced a bag and pulled a syringe full of deep blue liquid in it. He handed to the man standing on the other side of Karma. “This is your punishment.” He smirked. “I personally think you deserve much, much worse for being such a pain in all of our asses. But Control is soft on you and for the life of me I can’t figure out why.”
