GABE'S P.O.V
"Hey, babe, I'll be back in a bit," I tell Alex as I put my shoes on.
"Where are you going? You know Lea's going to ask for you when she wakes up," Alex responds, sighing and looking at me with a bit of sadness and frustration in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, babe, but I promised I'd help David get a gift for Jacob. We agreed to meet up at the mall." I explained as I grabbed my keys. "We'll only be an hour and a half or so," I said, walking over to her.
"Alright, have a good time," she muttered as I leaned in and kissed her softly before leaving.
DAVID'S P.O.V
"Alright, so what do you think he'd like?" I asked Gabe as we walked through an aisle in Toys R Us.
"Well, you're his dad, right? Shouldn't you know?" He responded, chuckling a bit as he looked at the various toys and the shelves.
"Well, I do, but I don't want to screw it up. I've been gone and it's his first birthday which I 'won't be going to'," I said, using air quotations.
"Awe, don't worry, dude, it'll be fine. The fact that you'll be there when he thinks you won't is gunna be the best present for him, you'll see!" Gabe said in attempt to cheer me up.
"So I don't need to get him anything?" I asked cheerfully. Of course, I was playing.
"Idiot," Gabe murmured before punching my shoulder lightly and playfully.
Dalton's P.O.V
"Hun, wanna go to LA for a few days?" I asked Michelle as she did Vera's hair.
"Sure, but what for?" She asked, looking up at me before continuing Vera's braid.
"It's gunna be Jacob's birthday and I wanna go celebrate it with him. I'm like an uncle to him, so, yeah," I finished, hoping Michelle would understand.
"Awe, look at you! Uncle Dalton is soo cute!" She exclaimed, giggling a bit and smiling.
I shook my head, smiling back at her and Vera.
"I want to see my uncles and aunts and cousins!" Vera yelled as she ran to me once Michelle had finished her braid.
"So, it's settled. We leave at 10:30, so in two hours. We'll arrive at 1:30 which will be 11:30 there and the party isn't till 2 so we'll get there on time," I informed Michelle before walking out the room with Vera.
I took my phone out and sent David a text 'Flying out for Jacob's bday, see you in a bit'.
