chapter 30

Jordan's POV****

Out of the corner of my eye I see Dawn trying to gather her things but Adam was too quick. She looked around to see where Adam and I were but all she saw was Adam staring down at her. "Why do you keep following me?" Adam spits at her. "I'm not following you" Dawn says crossing her arms. I step in between them as soon as I notice Adam's face becoming harder and angrier.

"Dawn here's the deal. If you do not stop following Adam and leave him alone that is when I get involved. You need to quit harassing him. When I get in the picture you will wish you never laid eyes on him" I start. "I-" Dawn says as I interrupt her. "Don't speak. If you dare come near Adam, Alesa or any of the group I will personally put you in your place. You're out of his life forever. Keep it that way or someone will get hurt" I spit out as she grabs her bags and begins to walk away.

I follow her and step in front of her stopping her in her place. "DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!" I yell staring deep into her eyes. She nods before walking around me and up the escalator. I turn around and walk over to Adam. "J-Jordan. I have never seen that side of you and personally it terrified me" Adam says as I laugh. "Hey that's what happens when someone messes with my family" I say smiling.

"We're your family?" Adam asks as we begin to walk to the exit. "Um.. Yeah you guys are kind of the only family I have ever had.." I say quietly looking at the floor. "If it isn't intruding, what happened to your parents?" Adam asks looking at the floor along with me. "Car crash. Killed them on the spot. Happened sophomore year. I wasn't close to them before they died. I lived with June and Katherine and they took care of me. That is where I was introduced to Minecraft and YouTube. That is also where I learned who you guys were" I said quietly still looking at the floor.

"Jordan I had no clue I-" Adam started but I cut him off. "Don't put pity on me. That is the reason even Ty doesn't know. I can't take being pitied. I feel like I'm a charity" I say looking down. Adam looks at me then looks back at the ground as we finally exit the mall. We walk to the car and get in.

We drive a little ways silently until Adam breaks the silence. "Why don't you want Ty to know? I mean he's about to be your husband". "I know. I just can't because... This is the reason scars are on my arms. It filled my heart with pain and I shut everyone out for years. Until T.J. came into the picture. I made a mistake and let him in and what does he do? Abuse me. More scars" I say trying to focus on the road in front of me.

My eyes then become blurry as streams of tears leave my eyes. "Jordan. I didn't know.. I honestly thought all you were filled with was happiness and love" Adam says looking at me. "Most people don't know that side of me. So far only you know what I have told you. Katherine and June don't know some of the things I have told you" I say beginning to cry.

"Jordan pull over" Adam begged. I do as told and pull into a nearby gas station. "Get out I will drive" he says opening his car door. I open my door and walk around the front of the car until I get into the passenger seat. Adam turns to look at me before pulling out. "Jordan I'm here if you ever need someone to just rant to. I'm here for you okay?" he asks as I nod looking out the window.

I finally calm down and stop crying listening to different songs on the radio. We pull into the driveway and I quickly hop out of the car. I speed up the driveway and burst into the house causing Jason to jump off the couch and on to the floor. Falling to the ground, I burst into laughter. Adam walks through the front door and sees Jason scrambling, trying to get off the floor. He sticks out his hand to help me up as I finally stop laughing. I take it standing up looking at him. I turn towards the stairs and begin to walk up them.

Once I reach the top I look down the dark hallway in front of me. Something didn't seem right. Jerome suddenly jumps out yelling as I just stare at him. "Did that not scare you?!" Jerome whined as I laughed. I turn to see Adam behind me looking at us. "See what did I tell you. We're like a family"
