chapter 32

Jordan's POV****

We all sit in the waiting room while Mitch paces back and forth. "Mitch please sit down" Adam says looking down at his hands. "No. I can't" Mitch simply says. "Mitch please your only freaking others out" Ty says looking up at him. Mitch looks over at me as I stare at the floor worrying about what is happening with Katherine. Mitch's footsteps walk to the other side of me as he sits down. "Jordan it will be okay" Ty whispers in my ear. He grabs my hand and interlocks our fingers as I continue to stare at the floor.

The sound of a door opens as I shoot my head up to see who it was. The nurse calls for Mitch to come with her as he stands up quickly. I look back down at the floor as the door closes. Warm tears roll down my cheeks as a hand rubs small circles on my back.

"Adam?" Ty's voice says quietly. I look up at Ty then at Adam. "I wanted you to know that I forgive you for everything that has happened lately" Ty says gently making Adam's face light up. I smile and hug him gently. "Jordan" Mitch calls from across the hall. I jump up and quickly make my way to Mitch. His eyes were red and he had bags under them. "Mitch are you okay?" I ask standing in front of him. He turns and begins walking down the hall motioning me to follow him.

Mitch suddenly stops in front of a door as he gently turns the handle. He opens the door and lets me in before closing the door behind me leaving me alone with Katherine. Her eyes were filled with tears and her face was beat red. "Oh my gosh Kat what's going on?" I ask walking up to her bed. I sit at the foot of her bed as she continues to cry. She eventually takes a deep breath calming herself. "Jordan.... The baby was Annabeth" Katherine choked out. "Was?" I ask as she nods crying once again.

I stand up from the foot of her bed and walk up to her holding her gently. "Shhh Katherine sweetie don't get yourself worked up" I say trying to calm her down. I hug her tightly as I sway back and forth. After what seemed to be 30 minutes she falls asleep in my arms. I lay her down softly before creeping out of her room. I step out into the hallway and sit against the wall thinking about everything. How could I have known what happened to Katherine's baby before they even had her, none the less even knowing the gender.

I stand up and walk down the hall and back into the waiting room. Mitch was still crying while Jerome was rubbing his back. I walk up to Adam and grab his arm pulling him aside. "Adam it came true" I say looking at the floor. "What did?" he asks confused. "Katherine had a miscarriage. The baby's name was Annabeth. I should've told her. Maybe we could have done something" I say hating every ounce of myself. "We wouldn't have been able to do anything even if we did tell Katherine. Don't take this as your fault Jordan" Adam says tilting my head up.

I look into his eyes feeling safe and warm. I nod as I push back tears. He wraps me up in his arms and holds me tightly. I hug back as he lets me go. I turn and walk back into the waiting room sitting in between Mitch and Ty. "Mitch it will be okay I promise" I say giving him a side hug. "Mr. Hughes?" A man in a lab coat calls from the doorway in front of us. Mitch stands up and rushes towards the doctor.

The doctor hands him a couple of papers as Mitch signs them. "Okay we will bring her out here shortly. I'm sorry for your loss" the doctor says patting Mitch on the back as he returns to his seat.

~TIME SKIP~

We pull into the driveway behind Mitch and Katherine with Jerome,Ian and Adam following close behind. Katherine gets out of the car quickly and rushes up to the door before running inside. Mitch jumps out and tries to chase after her but she is too quick. I slide out of the car and walk quickly up to the door. "Katherine please let me in" Mitch begs as I hear him knock on her door. I walk up the stairs and see Mitch banging on her door. "Mitch give her some space. Let me talk to her" I say walking up to him. He nods before returning downstairs. I knock gently on the door as the door flies open letting me in.

Katherine pulls me in and closes the door behind us, locking it. "Katherine do you need a day out with the girls to get this off your mind?" I ask as she shakes her head. "Tomorrow. For now let me grieve" she says falling face down on her bed crying. "Do you want me to order your boyfriend to go out and get you some ice cream?" I ask smiling. She nods as I laugh "yep that's the Kat I know". I open the door and go to the edge of the stairs.

"MITCH!" I call holding out the I. "What?!" He screams back. "Katherine wants ice cream. Go" I say as he nods, pulling Jerome out the door with him.
