Jealously

"Hey El, what do you have next?" Mike asked.

They were both in high school now as freshmen.

"Science." she said frowning. It was the one subject they didn't have with each other.

"It's okay El," he said, "I'll see you at lunch." He gave her a short hug and then headed off to his next class. El sighed and headed to science.

Once in science she dropped all of her things on her desk and put her head down. All she could think about was Mike. That was until she heard her teacher say...

"We have a new student everybody!"

"Great." she mumbled. El didn't like new people that much, it was just another person to keep her secret from.

"I'm guessing you're not very fond of people." A voice said not that far away from El. She looked up to see a boy, she assumed it was the new kid since she had never seen him before.

"I'm sorry I didn't mea-"

"It's okay, I'm Jacob."

"Jane, but most people call me El." she said nervously. Nobody really talked to her outside of her group of friends, they all saw her as a freak since Troy told everyone she broke his arm. She didn't mind though.

"El," he said, "I like it. You mind if I sit beside you?"

"Sure." El said smiling.

The two talked up a storm through all of science and had to be told by the teacher many times. That still didn't stop them from talking. El couldn't be prouder of herself, she had made a new friend. Little did she know, he didn't think of her as a friend.

"Where is she?" Mike mumbled.

"Where's who?" Dustin asked.

"El, that's wh-"

"Don't look now." Lucas said interrupting Mike.

All three boys turned around and Mike's jaw dropped as he saw El with a huge smile across her face, holding a boy he had never seen before's hand.
