"Don't look now." Lucas said interrupting Mike.
All three boys turned around and Mike's jaw dropped as he saw El with a huge smile across her face, holding a boy he had never seen before's hand. Mike started to approach them.
"Hey Mike." El said. "What's wrong?"
"Who's the mouthbreather here?"
"Mike." She said looking hurt.
"Why are you holding his hand?" He asked.
"Cause we're friends." She said looking confused.
"Doesn't seem like it." he said running off.
"What did I do?" El asked. The boys just shook their heads.
*****
"Mike, are you in here?" Dustin yelled into the boys bathroom. They had been searching for Mike for almost half an hour now.
"Leave me alone." Dustin heard from one of the stalls.
"Lucas." Dustin called. "He's in here."
The two boys ran in to see Mike, now outside of the stall, washing his tear stained face.
"Mike she didn't mean it." Dustin exclaimed.
"She was holding his hand Dustin." he said angrily.
"Just let us explain what happened." Lucas said annoyed.
"Okay." Mike mumbled.
*flashback*
"What did I do?" El asked. The boys just shook their heads.
"Why are you holding is hand?" Lucas asked, nodding towards Jacob.
'Because we're friends." El said. "and that's what friends do."
"That's what you think this is!" Jacob said angrily "A friendship?!" Jacob then let go of here hand and stomped away.
"El, when you hold someone's hand that means you like them, just like you like Mike." Lucas said trying to explain. "You hold someone's hand when you like them as more of friend."
El smacked her hand to her mouth at what she had just learned.
"Oh no!" she whispered. "Mike!"
"It's okay," Dustin said, "We'll talk to him. You go home and we'll send him by your house later."
"Thank you." she said hugging them both and heading on home, ashamed at what she had just done.
*Flashback over*
"It was all a misunderstanding." Mike said after the two boys had explained what happened.
"Yeah it I-" Lucas said.
"And now you have to go make things better!" Dustin exclaimed, cutting Lucas off.
"Exactly." Mike said running out the bathroom
"Don't forget the Eggos!" Dustin called out after him. "Eggos makes everything better!"
