Caroline woke up in an empty room. She was still confused about where she was, but then it all came rushing back to her and everything stopped when she reached the word Klaus. Looking around, she didn’t know where the original was. And she so wanted him to be there with her. Just near her, around her. She felt safer with him then she had felt with anyone. She stood up and then sat down again. Apparently she still didn’t have enough strength in her too get moving. Her head ached and she clutched it. Everything had happened so fast. She searched for her phone but the battery had died long ago. “Here, you can use mine.”, Klaus said from behind her as he entered the room. She ran towards him and hugged him. He was slightly shocked but didn’t waste the opportunity and enveloped her in his arms. They stood there for longer than they should have. Caroline was too comfortable and safe to move. And Klaus would have been insane to move away from her first. She however, reluctantly, let go him and with the sweetest voice whispered, “Thank you fro saving me, again.” He smiled, not smirked but smiled. That genuine smile that had only been reserved for, “Any time.”
She took his phone and dialed Stefan. After two rings a very tired Stefan answered, “This is not a good time Klaus.”
“Oh, thank God you are safe. How are Bonnie and Jeremy and my mom and the kids?”, she asked.
“Caroline.”, he said and sighed in relief, “What happened to you? Everyone is safe but we had no idea where you were. Where are you? And what is Klua doing there?”
“Same old traveler drama. They kidnapped me and Klaus saved me. I dont know where I am.”, she said and turned to Klaus, “Where are we?” “we are 3 hours away from mystic falls.”
“Travelers?”, Stefan asked, bracing himself for the worst.
“Yeah. They wanted something. Where are you?”
“I’m in the hospital. Something went wrong with the spell and Bonnie is...”
“I am coming.”, she said and hung up.
“No. You are not going.”, Klaus said. “You aren’t the boss of me. Bonnie is not well I have to go.”, she said “You are too weak to go anywhere. Leave in the morning.”, Klaus said. “I have to go now. My friends need me.”, she said softly and walked to the door. “Okay then let me at least take you there safely.”, he said askeing her for a silent permission to let him accompany. “You aren’t going to fight me on this?”, she asked. “You won’t let me win.”
They both made their way to the car and got in. Caroline was very fidgety. Travelers, Bonnie in hospital, using her for bribes. Something was wrong, very, very wrong. “Go to sleep, Caroline. You are still weak and I’ll wake you up when we get there.”, Klaus said and she nodded. She closed her eyes and fell asleep
