After Grimm's surprise visit and taking care of me session ended, I was left with a weird feeling in my chest.
I couldn't really sleep that night because of that feeling that was eating away and leaving me confused. I couldn't understand why I had that feeling or what that feeling was. Either way, I didn't sleep much.
The next morning, I headed off to school that same as always. I had taken off my bandages from my hand and actually tried my best to dress acceptable for social standards. I felt good that day and I didn't know why.
I reached school soon enough, thanking the Lords that nobody seem to notice my absence yesterday. I headed to my locker and took out my books.
"Alana!" I heard someone call for me and I turned. Ben rushed to my side, panting and his spectacles nearly dropping off the edge of his nose. He looked worried.
"Why weren't you in school yesterday? You promised that we would study together." He asked and I recalled the promise we made a week ago.
I pulled a guilty face. "Heh, sorry Ben. I caught a fever and stayed at home." I left out the part about Grimm coming over.
Ben wasn't relieved. In fact, his frown grew deeper and I let out an annoyed sigh.
I quickly added, "I'm fine, Ben. Honestly! I can-"
"-handle it. That's all you ever say." Ben rolled his eyes, expression serious. "Just promise me that you'll take care of yourself better. You don't know it but you're really..." Ben trailed off, hesistant.
I raised my eyebrow. "I'm what exactly?"
Ben shook his head. "Nothing. I'll see you later." He said it with a dissappointed tone and left me in the hallway. I watched him head to class and frowned. What's up with him nowadays?
I shrugged and trudged myself dreadingly to my first class of the day.
I entered the classroom and spotted Grimm with his group at the back of the class. I noted the guy who threw the mashed potatoes at me was joking around with his group but Grimm wasn't paying attention to them. He was glancing up at me.
At this, I stiffened. The weird feeling rose up to my chest again and I felt my cheeks burn softly. I bit my lower lip and my mind raced on whether to wave him 'Hi' or just ignore him.
Grimm must have noticed the silent fight in my head because he gave a small smirk at me before tilting his head up slightly. A 'What's up?' gesture.
My lips tightened to a firm line and I nodded softly before heading to my seat. From the way he was acting, I was guessing that he wanted to keep whatever happened yesterday a secret. I could live with that.
But that blasted feeling was still raging on in my chest. I hugged my bag closer to myself, trying to repress that feeling and my eyes shut close. I tightened my grip on my bag, repressing the weird feeling tighter and after letting out an exasperated groan, I thumped my head on my table.
What is up with me? I asked myself and shook my head. The teacher came in the class room and we started the lesson as per normal. Or as normal as it'll ever be.
I didn't know how I managed it but I survived the whole school day. Grimm kept his distance from me, the only person who acted like a douche to me was the guy who threw the potatoes. Gotta have to ask for his name soon.
Unfortunately for me, I was still stuck for detention so I gave Ben a small text saying that I can't go home with him today.
I headed to my usual detention spot after giving Doris my slip. Almost predictably, Grimm entered the room and took his seat next to me. I felt a smile creep to my lips before I force them staight again.
