Tomorrow had come, and the second she could, she was rushing out of bed to get ready. She never felt more excited to see someone. Ever since she was born she was different and that got in the way of her being able to make friends. People are always so scared of things that are different, so they never gave her a chance. This was the first time that she found a friend, the first time someone didn't ask why she was different.
Walking out the door with a bag full of goodies she walked to her home. Of course, she didn't live there but it was the only place she belonged. It felt good to walk in anticipation of something good happening, it had been a while since that happened.
As she walked in on the place of their meeting she realized she didn't know his name. She couldn't call out for him, so she sat under the tree, wrapped up in her book. By the time she finished, it was already sunset, and she soon figured that what he said yesterday was a joke. How could she let herself be tricked like that? It was too good to be true.
She returned home, as usual, waiting. No matter how long she waited, nothing happened. As she was about to head up to bed, there was a knock on the door.
"Listen, whoever you are, go away. I want to be left alone." She said.
The knocks continued. Frustrated she opened the door to see a hooded figure standing there. Terrified she tried to scream, but whoever it was, cover her mouth. Leading her back into her home, the figure closed the door behind them and let go of her.
"W-what do you want from me? I swear I don't have anything valuable for you." She explained.
"How is it that every time we meet, I unintentionally make you scream or scared?" The hooded figure said.
That voice, it sounded familiar. As the figure stepped forward, she stepped back. Unfortunately, she tripped over a stool and was about to fall. Waiting for the impact, she closed her eyes when someone grabbed her hand and pulled her up. Their bodies collided and knocked off the hood. It was him, but why? How?
"Y-you? But how did you find me?" She asked.
"I followed your scent, but I couldn't expose my ears while looking for you, so I had to wear the hood." He said.
Close enough to feel their breaths, they realized how close they actually were. Flustered, they stepped back from each other with clumsy smiles on their faces. Gazing closely, he saw what she was wearing, a pair of navy blue shorts that covered up till the mid part of her thighs and a light green tank top that exposed the curves on her. Her hair, which smelled like fruits and flowers, hung over her shoulders and her eyes peered into his. Trying to hide his embarrassment, he cleared his throat.
"Sorry I wasn't there today, it's just a lot of things happened and I couldn't leave without raising suspicion." He explained.
"That's okay, I'm glad that you told me. Come to think of it, I don't know your name." She told him.
"Well, people back home just call me 'your highness' but my parents named me Damian. What about you? I don't know your name either." He said.
"I'm Lilian, nice to meet you." She said.
Extending her hand, she smiled at him. He smiled back and shook hands with her, when all of a sudden, they broke into laughter at the formality. It was fun having him around, she showed him all sorts of things. How to play video games, some of her favorite books, the amazing foods in this world, not to mention the holy grail that is instant ramen.
They sat on the couch talking about their past, things they did when they were kids and how she discovered instant noodles. How it changed her life, but she can only have it on Saturday's. And that because of that reason, Saturday is her favorite day of the week.
"Even though I've been here a few times, I have never seen anything like this." He said as he slurped on his ramen.
"Haha, I know right, it's one of the best things ever. Come to think of it, you said people called you, 'your highness'. Does this mean you are royalty or were you pulling a fast one on me?" She asked.
"Well I am the future head of the wolf clan, so I guess you can say that." He explained.
Her jaw dropped, she thought he was joking but then again, he did say he was the leader. Then she started piecing things together. He was the leader of the most powerful clan, which must mean that he was the king of all the clans. So, she was hanging out with a king?!
"So, ahem, come to think of it, I've been wondering. Why hang out with me? I mean, aren't I weird?" She asked.
"You're a lot more pleasant than anyone back in my world, they're all slobs. The ones who aren't are just plain annoying." He said.
"Hey, random question, can I touch your ears?" She asked.
This made him choke on his noodles. He turned to look at her when he saw her eyes glowing with a curiosity in his ears. Why would his ears be interesting? He saw no harm, so he leaned his head down so his ears were in front of her. She slowly reached her fingers and touched them. To her surprise, they were very soft and squishy.
"Hehe, that tickles." He said.
"Hm, they're so soft. I wish I had ears like that..." She sighed.
"Here, I'll show you something cool." He said.
All of a sudden, a tail sprouted from behind him. She was so in shock that she didn't see it coming closer to tickle her. She started laughing, and he tickled her even more until they rolled off of the couch onto the floor.
Still smiling, he looked down at her. The strap of her tank top rolled off her shoulder, her hair spread over the carpet and her skin glowing in the moonlight coming through the window. She was beautiful and so much more. He'd never met anyone like her before. Bold, confident, gentle and kind, and she didn't seem to mind his race, which made him all the more star struck.
Without knowing he had leaned in, closed his eyes and kissed the unsuspecting girl. Her lips, still slightly salty from the ramen, were soft and supple. It felt like he was in a trance, captured, both of them magnets. Drawn toward each other, not knowing why, but never the less captivated by one another.
When he drew back, he saw the shock in her eyes. He realized what he just did. He kissed a human, the one beings ever demon in the realm despised more than anything. Moving back, he saw that she wasn't angry, she wasn't yelling, nor did she look upset. In fact, she was trying to hide her embarrassment and her shy smile. She didn't hate him or the kiss, maybe she even likes them. Taking a bold chance, he did something he never thought he could do.
"I-uh-I like you...I mean I know we've only known each other for a day but I really want to know you better." He said.
She looked at him, surprised and shaken. However, that face melted into a smile.
"I'd like to know you better too..." She said shyly.
This was strange, of course, he had met many young, and powerful maidens in the demon realm, but none like her. It was never easy to talk about things that he discussed with her to someone else. In fact, he often wondered why he talked to her in the first place. He'd always heard such awful rumors about humans, how they are destructive, cruel and greedy. However, it was her compassion that made him think otherwise. He'd fallen.
