Two years had passed since the two individuals met. The did everything that normal couples did, have ice cream at the park, watch movies, but they did them mostly at night. This way, nobody could notice his ears, and there won't be as much of a crowd. One of their favorite things to do together was midnight meadow picnics. They would go to the nearby meadow and gaze at the stars, reading some of her favorite books. The ones her aunt would read her, along with some of the ones they found at the library together. At night of course.

As time passed their love grew, they became closer than they could have ever imagined. He never imagined humans to be such gentle creatures. Then again, she probably never expected demons to be nice like him. One night, they went into the forest because he wanted to show her something.

"Why are we here again?" She asked smiling.

"I wanted to show you this." He said pointing at the stream.

A patch of moonflowers growing around the stream were blooming in the moonlit night. It was a mix of white and pink flowers that seemed to dance whenever there was a breeze. All of a sudden, a pair of warm arms wrapped around Lilian as she was admiring the beauty of the night. His head resting on her shoulder, and as the two swayed in the meadow, their bare feet in the cool summer grass, she looked at him.

"Hmm, what's all this about? Did you do something...?" She asked with a hint of suspicion.

A sigh escaped his lips. The arms loosened, his body moved away and he walked toward the flowers. She could tell by his drooping ears that something was wrong. As she slowly patted his head he sighed once again, but this time it was followed by words.

"Do you remember, two years ago, I told you the elders were planning on marrying me to the daughter of the fox clan? Well, it seems they were serious despite my protesting against the idea." He explained.

Her eyes opening from the shock, is she going to lose him as well? She tucked the skirt of her dress underneath her and sat down beside him. Leaning her head against his arm, she closed her eyes, thinking.

"Wait, what if we both try to convince your clan?" She exclaimed.

"What? You're kidding, right? No human has ever entered my realm, not to mention what could happen to you if they saw you there." He told her.

"But they need to understand that they can't control what we do, moreover who we love. It's up to us to decide." She said as she held his hand in hers.

He gazed at her hand, warm and soft, then looked into her eyes, not an ounce of fear or hesitation. She was telling him that they need to face this together, and he knew that she'd break if he left her too. She wouldn't remain the warm, kind person she is today. Smiling, he nodded at her idea to face the clan together.

"Shall we go?" He asked.

"Wait, now?!" She asked, clearly surprised.

"Yes, they intend to engage me in a few days. It'd be better for both parties to know beforehand." He said.

"Okay, but is it safe?" She asked.

He looked to his hand which had a few bracelets tied around it and picked one that had stones which had a blue, purple, and black tinge to them. He tied it around her wrist, which seemed confusing at first, but she went along with it.

"This will protect you since the bracelet has my scent, the other beings in that realm will notice that you're with me." He said.

"And what happens if I take off the bracelet?" She asked, now wishing she didn't.

"You'd be at the mercy of whatever is in there and if I'm out-numbered, I don't know if I can save you." He said looking at the grass.

She nodded and stood close while he opened the portal to his realm. It was opened by one of the other bracelet's he was wearing. When the portal opened, he took her hand in his and smiled. Maybe it was his way of believing that everything will turn out okay. At least, that's what they hoped and prayed for.

As they both stepped into the portal the air around them changed, it was light and cool. The air in his realm was heavy and hot, almost like when you stay in the hot shower too long. They both walked along in what seemed to look like a darker version of the rainbow road from Mario Cart. Long, windy, and dark.

For a second, she felt as if she was going to fall off the edge until he grasped her hand a little tighter. However, it wasn't because he was trying to comfort her. It was because they had arrived. His home looked like a palace that seemed to be in a world of its own. Surrounded by trees and large boulders, looked it like something out of an old text.

Walking to the front gate, they notice two guards with spears blocking the entrance. They looked down to Lilian and then turned to look at Damian. Almost as if they were asking what she was doing here.

"Who is this?" They asked.

"Stand down, she's not a threat." He ordered them.

The gate opened from the inside and standing there was a man with white ears and an expensive looking attire that seemed from the year 1600. Stepping out, he gestured with a cold look to come inside.

Once inside the two walked through the halls into what seems like the living room. Both of them sat down where the servants gestured. The room consisted of a painting of ogre-like beings on the walls, a small table with three cups. The old man walked in with a pot of hot water and started making some tea. Gracefully, he serves us the tea, which smells amazing.

"Talk, before I decided to beat you till you're unable to speak." The old man said.

This sent a shiver up Lilian's spine, she could tell he was serious. The warm feeling in her stomach she got from the tea he served went cold. She looked into Damian's eyes, and he nodded, assuring her that he'll take care of it. He straightens his back and his posture to show he wasn't going to back down.

"Father, I don't want to marry that stupid crow. I don't want to marry for advantage, I want to marry for love. Lilian is the only one meant for me, and I need her." He explained.

"Do you think I care, I promised them that our families would be tied-" He started.

"But you did it without my opinion. To you, I'm just a piece of property." He said.

His eyes full of anger, but also determination. For what? To make her his bride? No, it was to finally make a decision for himself without the need for approval from everyone else.

"Ever since I was little, you or someone else has always made my decisions for me. Well now I'm the head of our clan, and no one told you shit when you were head. I don't need to have someone babysitting me." He said.

"It's because you're a naïve leader. You think that everything can be solved by discussion. You need allies and the Foxes are our best chance." His father explained.

"It's true that we should have allies, but we don't need to resort to marrying into them. Our past and current relationships should be enough. If not, then we know they're not doing this for a more secure future." Damian said.

They argued back and forth and back and forth until they were both exhausted. Lilian knew that she had to step in before things blow so out of proportion that there's no going back. Take a deep breath, she uttered two words that made heads turn.

"I'm pregnant!" She said.
