3 years later...
PENNY
Today is my 7th birthday. Everyone is busy preparing for the party they planned for me though I told them that I don't want to have a party. My grandma is the one who insist to give me a party so I can enjoy and celebrate it with my friends.
But to be honest, I don't feel like celebrating it and I guess you have an idea why? I'm sitting on a steel bench under the tree on our front yard. I watch people come and go carrying chairs, tables, balloons and everything they need for the party that'll begin in 2 hours.
I look up into the sky trying to get some answers. No one in my family knows what I'm feeling but I'm really thankful that for the past three years, they gave their best to cheer me up and not once they left my side but I know who I need right now.
"Penny? Sweetheart, it's time for you to get ready." I look at the owner of the voice and she's smiling sweetly at me and I smiled back but I didn't move or answer her. I know she's going to come here and sit beside me and I was right.
"Hey, what's wrong pretty?" she asked me "Nothing Aunt Patricia." I answered.
"Nothing? Then what's with the sad face?" I didn't answer because I don't want to cry. I don't want her to think that I'm weak and a cry baby "You know you can tell me anything you want right?"
I nod my head twice still looking down on the ground.
"I know you miss them." She say in a sad tone and this time I look at her "I should be the one—" I place my hand on her lap and she looks at me.
"If only I could turn back the hands of time Penny, I would for you." I wipe her tears flowing freely on her cheeks and give her a small smile "I still love you Aunt Patricia, nothing can change that." She pulls me into a hug and I know my moms are proud of me now.
"I love you too sweetheart and I promise I'll always be here for you." She broke the hug and kiss me on my forehead "for now, let's get your little but in the house because your party will start in 2 hours."
"Do I have to?" I whine a little "Yes missy, your grandma plan this party for you and I don't think you want to disappoint her right?" I shook my head as an answer. I watch her stand up and extend her arm towards me.
"Shall we?" she asks and I just nod and hold her hand as she lead the way back to the house.
