I stared at my blue hazel and yellow eyes in the mirror of the big handicap stall in the girl's bathroom. It had become a ritual to go do my necessities in-between classes and when I'd wash my hands I'd become transfixed on them whenever I caught sight of them in the dirty written on mirror. Teen girls talking trash about each other written all over the walls, doors, and stalls. On this particular mirror it had, ME + MARK 4 EVER. I rolled my eyes at the stupidly of these human girls. But then again wasn't that part of the reason I was here?
I became lost in my eyes again when I caught my reflection. I just couldn't get over the fact of how much my camouflaged skin made my eyes pop. Back on my home planet, Zeheerttiahk we had gigantic trees with large circumferences so we developed a camouflage similar to a chameleon's except we didn't turn all sorts of different colors. We just turned different shades of brown to blend in with the trees. So to blend in here on earth I had turned the darkest brown I needed to be so no one would notice the pattern of leopard like spots on my backside, and shoulders.
A knock came at the door to my stall, "Is someone in there?"
"Yes, I'll be out in a second!" I hollered so the girl waiting outside could hear me past all the noise from the thousands of high-schoolers going to sixth period.
I forced my eyes to stop staring at themselves and look up at my Amy Winehouse hair. Naturally a deep blue, I dyed it black with temporary hair dye so I could wash it out at any time. Meaning I had to avoid the rain. An yeah there were girls who dyed their hair blue but a "black girl" wouldn't look right with blue hair like mines. Some still do it but the color is not very flattering on them.
I looked at it, combed my side bangs, and repositioned my long ass hair, which reached my butt. I looked myself over, took a deep breath, and walked out. A horde of girls were hogging the mirror, as usual, and another horde waited for stalls to become available. I slipped through them and disappeared into the crowd of teens. I turned to go through a pair of clear glass double doors, weaving through the too slow, the make-out couples, and the groupies.
Why was a one-thousand seven hundred year old (in earth years), alien attending a human school with inferior studies? Because the best way to really learn a culture is with its youth.
Why was an alien on earth in the first place? Because humans get me. Plain and simple. Humans were gifted with a full range of emotions, as was I. Sadly the rest of my people weren't.
"Hey Lassie!"
Was the first thing I heard walking into the most dreadful of classes, Algebra 2. After all the time I spent in the bathroom I was still one of the first ones to class. I looked to see Sebastian with his feet in my desk chair.
"You know I hate it when you call me that," I flung my bag of books lightly on to the desk.
"And I hated it when you called me sea bass yesterday."
"It was funny," A giggle slipped through my lips. No one had ever thought to call him that so he was surprised to hear it.
"Yeah whatever." He said in a comic, sarcastic voice, while shaking his head as he spoke.
It made my lips twitch with a smile of laughter coming on, "Come on get your dirty feet out of my chair." I pushed his legs off so I could sit.
Sebastian was my "best friend". We weren't THAT close but he knew he could be himself with me and I could be part of myself with him. The part that hadn't fit in at home.
Others tried to "get at me" or "holla at me" and it had really put me off. Most of the boys at this school were pretty boys with over confidence. They were cocky, and rude. Which really agitated me. I had hit it off with Sebastian because he wasn't like that at all. He was awkward and not too confidant of himself. Though I never understood why. He was cute. He had a nice perfect muscular body but not too muscular and he had a baby face. It wasn't too grown-up and masculine nor too baby. It was just right. He was cute and adorable but when he got serious or angry he looked like a grown man staring back at you.
