Chapter 4: He Wants Her Back

Johnny's POV:

"So you're telling me, that he actually confessed to all of it?"

"Yes, Johnny, he told us everything. We found that very, very strange." The police Officer explains.

He pushes the button 'play' on the television monitor.

I want to see this interview.

"Mark Jerin?"

A man in a cool looking suit sat down across from Mark.

Mark looks around the room, as if he's looking for something.

His eyes reach the camera, and he smiles, he just stares at the device.

"Mark."

"Yes?" Mark looks away from the camera, looking annoyed.

"Why did you do it?"

"Kill Alli?" Mark asks so innocently.

I start to get angry.

"No why did you hurt the poor girl? She is a very kind young girl."

"Is? No, was. She's dead." Mark says with an attitude.

"Tell me why you did it."

"She's not dead? What the-"

"Mr. Jerin! Answer my question."

"Because she deserved it! Okay? She is a stupid, ugly child!"

My mouth fell open.

He has got to be kidding me. Alli is a wonderful, altruistic person! She's intelligent and amazing!

"Excuse me?" The man says, obviously confused.

"You see, this girl, tried to get in bed with me. Obviously, she thought I was some kind of pedophile."

What!

He is such a pedophile! I know Alli would never do that!

"Oh really? Because as I have been told, Alli is a very shy girl, nothing like you have described her, you must have something wrong. Are you sure she was the one who lured you to bed?"

Where is this going?

"What is he saying? I know he's trying to get something out of Mark, but what is it?" I ask the police man who is showing me the video.

He picks up a file, probably something important.

"You see, the doctors had to do some serious scans on her, she had a record of being abused. I don't know if you knew, but, Alli has visited this hospital very often. She once came to get stitches on her lip, according to the records, she was hurt very badly; and when the doctor asked what happen, she said there was an accident. But something like that can't come from an accident, no. Her lip looked very swollen, and it was bleeding heavily, as the doctor described, I know there was violence in her house, we interviewed some neighbors. They claimed to see Mark beating poor Alli in the backyard. So with those scans, they figured out that there was abuse, probably unaware by her mother, which is very illegal."

I was speechless. I knew Mark would hit her and her mother, but I thought it was minor. Nothing like this.

"Yeah! She was just trying to get to me." Mark continues with his lies.

"Are you sure you didn't rape her?"

Marks jaw fell.

"Do you really think I would do such thing?"

Yes.

"It was just a question, Jerin, no need to be offended. But I do, in fact, think someone like you, would be capable of sexual abuse towards teenage girls. It says in your records, you were in jail, once. In Florida, you got into some real trouble."

Marks eyes were wide open.

"What happened in Florida?" I asked.

The police officer sighed.

"Mark Jerin was in jail for 10 years. He had taken advantage that he looked young, he was 20 back then, he went to a party. That party had a lot of teenagers under the influence. Mark, crashed that party, won over some girls, and well, those girls weren't looking for him in that way after a while. Mark was accused of rape, but the fact that those girls had agreed to have a sexual relationship with him, didn't him give much time in jail."

Mark was crazy... He still is. I couldn't find the right words for this. Has he done anything to Alli?

"Listen, officer, you're not going to tell me something I don't already know. So how about we get to the point of this crappy interview and you let me go home. Because, obviously, I did the whole world a favor by killing that worthless piece of sh-"

"Language, Mr. Jerin!"

"Whatever! Just end this! She deserves to die."

"No. She does not. And you confessed to have hurt her."

"Yeah, so? I'm proud of it."

He's proud of it?!

I was about to just throw that television out of the window.

"Mr. Jerin."

"Hmm?"

The interviewer sighs. "You are dismissed."

Mark smiles and gets up. He walks towards the open door. But before he walks out, he says one more thing.

"If that piece of dead meat decides that it's my fault that her mom hates her, then tell her that it's not my fault she was that irresistible to -"

I threw a vase at the TV.
