Vikramadeva was crowned the king of Mahishmati. Once when he visited a kingdom he saw Bhavani, who was a princess and only daughter of the King of that land. He pursued her and they fell in love however it was objected by her father who wasn't keen to marry her off to him as they were rivals with Mahishmati. Vikramadeva's peace talks failed and he wasn't willing to give up on his love so with her consent they eloped and got married. He brought her to Mahishmati and they lived happily. If Mahishmati was one eye of King Vikramadeva, Bhavani was his other eye. A year after their marriage Bijjaladeva married Sivagami.

Bi: That good for nothing brother of mine stole the throne from me, as if that wasn't enough he married before me ! All good things happen to him first! Aaarghhhh thoo....

Si: Your brother and his wife seem to be nice people why this hostility towards them ?

Bi: Look ! I am the rightful heir to the throne but because of my disability they made him King. What an insult ! I have to beget a heir before him and put him to shame ! What I couldn't achieve I will ensure my son will !

Sivagami took a while to absorb what he said and almost believed his words when one day she witnessed her husband stealing gold from the royal treasury. She reports it to Vikramadeva.

Bijjaladeva who held one of the important posts in the court until then was removed from office by Vikramadeva thus further fueling the fire of animosity. Bijjala also held grudge towards Sivagami for exposing him. Soon she became pregnant. Though they themselves didn't have a child, neither Bhavani nor Vikramadeva had envy in them. They were more elated than Sivagami-Bijjala to welcome the new member of their royal family. Bhavani took care of Sivagami as her own sister.
