It was a rainy afternoon, as Prince Thomas and Princess Violet rode in the royal carriage to a ball held in a nearby kingdom.
"I'm so excited, Thomas!" Violet exclaimed. "Our first ball together!"
Thomas smiled at Violet. "I am very excited. I haven't been to an actual ball for so long now!"
A clap of thunder rang out, and both Violet and Thomas jumped in their seats, then laughed. "Haven't heard thunder for a while, either," Thomas said, through laughs.
Violet laughed back. "I.... I don't know why I jumped. Guess I just haven't heard a rain storm for so long,"
"Maybe you just scare easily?" Thomas replied, raising an eyebrow. Violet glared at him. "Alright, alright!" Thomas said, "Just kidding!"
Violet smiled, and laughed a little. She was enjoying being with Thomas so much.
Just then, another clap of thunder rang out, and a gust of wind hit the coach, knocking it into the riverbank along the trail. Violet banged her head on the coach wall, and opened her eyes. Everything was spinning.
She heard a scream. It came from Thomas!
"Thomas!" Violet shouted, leaning up against the coach wall, slowly rising on her feet. She looked around the coach, but Thomas was nowhere to be seen.
"Violet, run!" Thomas screamed again. Violet looked out the coach window. She saw two ghost-like figures carrying Thomas away into the forest.
Violet jumped up out of the coach, and fell on the dirt.
"Thomas, hold on! I'm coming!" Violet clenched her purple skirts, and ran towards Thomas. She lost her balance though, and fell on the wet grass. Rain ran down her cheeks, and wet her hair.
Violet panted, looking around for Thomas. He wasn't anywhere. "Thomas?" Violet whispered, getting up on her knees. "Thomas!" Her scream echoed through the forest.
"Your highness!" A guard came over to Violet, helping her to her feet. "Where's Prince Thomas?"
Violet started crying. She looked around, but saw only rain, the crashed coach, and the forest trees. No Thomas.
"I don't know," Violet started sobbing, and looked at the guard. "I don't understand why someone took him. No one could be a threat but-" Violet stopped crying. She realized something. Provost was long dead, but Edward was still alive. He was locked in the dungeon, though! Or, did he escape?
"Get me back to the palace, right away!" Violet demanded.
"But, your majesty! We have no coach!" The guard replied.
"Then let's go on foot!" Violet argued.
"Madam, it's raining! It's too dangerous! You could catch a cold, someone could-"
"I don't care!" Violet stomped off. "I know who has Thomas! I'm getting help!" Violet wished she could use magic to create a bubble around her to keep from getting wet, but she surely couldn't do that in public.
"Princess Violet!" Came several guards' voices. But, Violet didn't care. She needed to get to the bottom of this, and get Thomas back. If she could save him once, she could do it again!
