The next few days, Violet spent training for facing Edward. She really had gotten better. Violet had been able to shoot all the wood cutouts of courtiers, she had jumped over the fire, had been able to hold on to the metal bars, and, had been able to break into the fake palace, and had saved the wood cutout of Thomas.
"Nicely done, Violet!" Harvey called, as Violet finished shooting the courtiers.
Violet took a deep breath, and thanked Harvey.
The group headed back to the cottage, and looked over the plan again.
"I think we're ready," Harvey said, carefully overseeing the plan.
Simon looked nervous, and raised his hand. "Umm, well, what if-"
"No what-ifs, Simon! Let's be positive! We already talked about all the bad things that could happen, at your plea, remember?" Harvey interrupted.
Simon lowered his hand. "Yes, sir. Sorry," he said.
"Simon?" Everett asked. Simon perked up.
"Yes?" He answered, quickly.
"You have the map, right?"
Simon felt around his coat. The map.... The map?
"Oh, right, yes!" Simon pulled the folded up piece of paper out of his coat. "Right here!" He unfolded the paper, setting it on the table.
"What are all these spots circled in purple ink?" Everett asked, pointing to an ink circle.
"Those? Oh, yes. Those are the places Edward and I narrowed down to where we wanted to place the gateway," Simon asked, staring deeply into Everett's green eyes.
"Which one do you think he picked?" Harvey asked, looking closely at the map.
"I don't know, really," Simon replied, sheepishly.
Violet looked closer at the map. She saw the river bank she and Thomas had crashed into. Just beyond that, further in the forest, was a purple ink circle. Violet felt a flurry of excitement fill her heart.
"That's the gateway, I just know it!" She exclaimed, pointing to the circle. "It's by where Thomas and I crashed. He was even carried by the courtier ghosts, or whatever they were, in that direction!"
"That is one Edward had favored just a little bit more," Simon said noted.
"Then, let's check that one first!" Harvey said, standing up, and walking towards his bedchamber. "I'll get me and Everett's bags, Violet and Simon? Get your's," he instructed.
Violet jumped from her seat as excitement raced through her body. They were finally going to save Thomas! Everything would work out, and she could live happily with Thomas forever.
The group collected all of their belongings, and headed off towards the river that ran through Grasmere.
