"Attention everyone, we will be landing in the Alola region momentarily." You blinked your eyes open. Absol was laying down on your chest. You looked out the window and saw that you were beginning to descend. The mistletoe above you had been stashed back in while you two were out. You sat up, and that caused Absol to stir a little bit.
"What's going on?" Absol asked.
"We're about to land." You said yawning. You looked at Absol and gave a peck on her forehead. Absol sat up and began to stretch a little bit. You readjusted the necklace around your neck which had Absol's Cherish Ball wrapped around to keep it in place. The pendant had a blue crescent going along the side of the pokéball, both to represent a crescent moon, and to represent Absol's horn. You pulled it out and let it hang outside your shirt. The plane landed, and you picked up your baggage. You walked outside the airport and took in the fresh air. The place looked quite tropical. You were about to walk off when Absol stopped you.
"Hold on a minute, didn't your parents say that someone was going to meet us?" Absol asked.
"Yeah, the professor." You said. "Although, I don't know if he's supposed to meet us at the airport or-"
"Hey! (Y/n)! You around here?!" A voice called out. You looked around and saw a hand waving up in the air.
"I'm over here!" You called out. His head turned and looked at you.
"(Y/n)? Wow, you slipped by me without me noticing." He said walking up to you. "My name's Professor Kuikui. I research Pokémon moves here in Alola."
"I'm (Y/n)." You said. "But you already knew that. This is Absol."
"I've been told a little bit about your Absol, how she saved your mother's life." Kuikui said getting eye level with Absol.
"She's also saved mine." You added. "But there's a lot more than meets the eye." You rubbed Absol's head a little bit. "Go on, say something."
"Hello." Absol said. Professor Kuikui looked at Absol surprised.
"Well, that's a first! A talking Absol!" Kuikui said amazed. Absol chuckled a little bit, then leaned her head on your leg.
"She's really something special." You said squatting down while rubbing Absol's head. Absol gave you a kiss on the cheek. You blushed a little bit, and Professor Kuikui chuckled a little bit.
"And she really seems to care about you." Kuikui said.
"Yeah." You said slowly.
"Hey, your parents asked me if I could give you a couple things, but they're back at my lab." He stood back up and started off down the street. "It's not too far from here, come on, there will be plenty to talk about on the way." You stood up and started to follow Professor Kuikui. Along the way, he told you how everyone greets one another here in the Alola region. He also told you that unlike other regions, this was one of the regions that did not have a Pokémon League currently built, but it was in progress. They also didn't have Gym's, the had something called trials. He told you of a specific group of people that have also been causing trouble around the region as well. A group called Team Skull. He also said how there were Pokémon that are cousins of their originals that looked different, and even had different typing's, ability's, nature's, and all other sorts of things. Eventually, you made your way to a place next to a spot called Ten Carat Hill. Professor Kuikui invited you into his house, which doubled as his research station in a basement down below.
"This place looks a lot cozier than the lab I saw in Hoenn." You said.
"I've been told that Professor Birch is very focused on his work." Kuikui said. "But it's nice to be able to relax every once in a while." He pulled out a pokéball from his bag, and turned around to face you. "Your parents asked that I give this to you." You took the pokéball in your hand and looked at it for a second. You felt something move inside of it.
