A year had passed since you had first caught Absol. Things have been easier since you first caught her. Despite the comfortable Pokéball, she didn't like being in there too often and preferred to sleep in your room. Mom had recovered from her heart attack that happened last year, and since then, has been watching what she eats. Because of Absol's adamancy against being in her pokéball most of the time, you created a fun little system where you can pull her up in a basket. Today though, you and Absol just sat under the tree on top of the hill. You had been helping Absol try and speak English. It was a little hard at first, and at some points, you wanted to quit, but she's been able to speak it pretty well, even if she may not know the meaning behind some of the words.

"Alright, let's try it again." You said.

"My name is Absol, and my mate is (Y/n)." Absol said. You facepalmed while blushing. She still had a hard time trying to differ meanings. "Did I say it wrong?"

"You're getting there." You said. "Just, instead, replace mate with trainer."

"But I think mate's more fitting." Absol said.

"Just, please, when you go saying that in public, we're going to get some weird looks." You pleaded.

"Alright." Absol said. "Then I won't say it in public." You facepalmed again. This was definitely one of those moments where you had to exert patience. Absol laid down on your legs again and leaned her head on your chest. You had to calm yourself down, you were still blushing, and the only way you could think of it was through physical contact, so you began to rub Absol's head.

"I swear Absol, if you go and say that in public, I won't feed you poképuffs for a week." You said. Absol looked up at you.

"You wouldn't do that." Absol said. You groaned, but still continued to rub.

"No, but I have to say something." You said.

"You know I'm only kidding around with you." Absol said. You gave another sigh, then smiled.

"I know you are." You said. "But THIS is what you get for messing with me like that!" You started to rub the side of Absol's head, right under where her hair was hanging from, causing her to practically melt in your lap.

"S-stop! I'm ticklish there!" Absol pleaded while laughing.

"I know you are!" You said. "That's why I'm doing it!" After having your fun, you stopped. You chuckled a little bit as Absol was catching her breath. Afterwards, she joined you, then laid her head back on your chest.

"You're so kind (Y/n)." Absol said.

"Well, I can't help it, it's who I am." You said. "After all, you saved my mom's life."

"And all it took was me running off with your phone." Absol smirked. You laughed a little bit.

"I was about to jump at you for taking me on that Swanna chase for no reason until I found out it was for a reason." You said. Absol chuckled a little bit.

"Hey, can you promise me something?" Absol asked.

"What's that?"

"Don't ever change." Absol said. You chuckled a little bit, then pecked the top of Absol's head with a kiss.

"I don't think I'll be changing for a while." You said. You looked over the view for a while. It still hadn't changed over the year. Still peaceful, still luxurious, still beautiful. The thought of going on a journey came to mind. It came before, but you wanted to make sure Mom was doing better on her own before leaving her. Seeing her get better made you feel assured now was a good time. "Hey Absol."
