Grayson's POV:

The sound of rain pattering on the roof woke me up as I tried to remember where I was. I looked to my left to find I was in bed without Jess. Did I dream all of that? Did I never meet her?

A loud noise disrupted my thoughts as I heard the door bang close before hearing two sets of feet walking up the stairs. There in front of me was my dad, Ethan and my mother.

"MUM WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?" I screamed in delight as I got up trying to hug her, I put my arms around her only to feel them cross each other. I looked up to see a ghost version of her, I screamed before feeling a light airy force push me back into bed. "What's going on?" I asked confused and scared at the sight in front of me.

"We are here to teach you a lesson." Ethan smirked as he clicked his fists together while my dad mimicked his actions.

"What lesson? I didn't do anything!?" They all looked at each other before laughing.

"You? Did nothing? Don't act so innocent Grayson. You're the reason why mum's dead, you're the reason dad left us but guess what? I brought them back so you can hear their joy about leaving you." Ethan chuckled as they all started to crowd around me. I started to sink into my bed scared out of my mind.

"You know why I killed myself Grayson? I killed myself because I was sick of taking care of you, I committed suicide in the same room you were in just so you could get a signal that it was your fault but I guess you didn't." My mum smiled a deathly smile before coming closer to my face.

"You know what your mum's death made me realise? That you were such a troublesome son and that you were too hard to handle. Spreading your anger out on us when she died even though it was your fault in the first place gave me a perfect excuse to leave. I'm glad I left you. I only feel sorry for Ethan as he was left alone with you."

I gulped deeply knowing that it would be the end of my life. I smiled weakly looking forward to the gun in front of me shooting bullets through my skull so I could leave this planet.

I closed my eyes as I heard them counting down.

"Three.."

"Two..." They chanted.

"GRAYSON!" I heard a distant voice call me.

"What is it!? Just kill me already." I murmured.

"GRAYSON WAKE UP! WAKE UP!"

I woke up to the sound of thunder and immediately looked at my surroundings trying to calm myself down. I looked around to find myself in the treehouse and felt a hand on my shoulder. I screamed and wrapped my arms around my head trying to hide the figure behind me.

"Grayson! It's me, Jess. Are you okay?" I turned around to find her with a worried complexion on her face.

She didn't leave me...
She didn't leave me like everyone else...

"Grayson? Are you there?" She waved her hands around my face violently trying to see if my eyes would respond. I caught her hands and engulfed her into a hug.

She stiffened immediately but soon melted into the hug, it had been a while since I got hugged and I guess it was the same for her. It felt comforting, it felt warm. Is that what people feel?

We sat in each other's arms for five minutes until we heard a car nearby splitting us up.

"Thank you for waking me up, I couldn't last much longer in my mind." I smiled as I looked into her eyes.

She blushed as she nervously scratched her head, "It's ok, I've been in positions like that and I don't want you to experience it anymore now that we know each other." I grinned and showed my teeth for the first time in years. She wanted to continue to talk to me.

"I wanted to tell you last night that I can relate with every single word you wrote in that letter. These nightmares suck you in just like your real thoughts and they terrify me. I wanted to die in my dream, I was hoping they'd pull the gun on me. Imagine me wishing for that right now because I would love to die now." I rambled on as I started to tear the sheet which we used to sleep on.

"Grayson breath in, breath out. I am here for you, it's like our letters were meant to be. I wanted to commit suicide the day I sent that letter, look at us now. I can't believe I'm communicating with a human, it's been years since I've done that." She started to play with her hair as I grabbed her hands.

"You don't know how long I've been waiting to find someone like you. Just please promise me you'll stay until the end?" She looked unsure as she shook her head yes before hugging me again.

But we both knew that we couldn't keep that promise, one of us would crack sooner or later...
