"Are you sure this meeting is wise, Ma'am?" Maya continued to fret while our carriage swayed from side to side.

"I assure you, Maya. Elijah is completely trustworthy, and even if he caused any trouble, I know exactly how to handle him." I waved my gloved hands with a smile.

"I don't really think it wise to example your abilities in th--" the remainder of her sentence was halted by our transport coming to a skidding stop, neighs of slight pain encouraging me to examine possible damage, "Wait, Miss--!"

I ignored Maya's worries, exiting the carriage without a care and rounding to face the driver, "Apologies for the abrupt stop, Miss, but our pathway is too overflowing to pass." I was informed the second he noticed me, my eyes now turning to the line of carriages strewn all over my path to town.

"And do you have any idea where the owners of these carriages could be?" His mouth opening in an attempted answer was silenced by a gunshot, I released a harsh exhale through my nose when cheers followed the bang; my head shooting towards the correct direction-- "I'll be just a minute, this issue will soon be sorted. Prepare to depart," I motioned to the track before turning to broach the problem.

Rounding the path's blockage presented me with a crowd of men trying to hide their fear, all eyes directed to a familiar smirk flailing around a gun. "Who's Next?! This Game is rather Fun!" He gave a boisterous laugh, spinning once again before his gaze zeroed in on my position-- "Adelina! What brings you so far from town?" He raised a brow, stance taking on a more dignified manor.

"I was just on my way, actually. I'm meeting with your brother."

"My brother?" His eyes narrowed slightly, the distance between us too great for me to successfully decipher the emotions that crossed his features.

"Yes, hasn't he said?" I took my chance to smile at his confusion.

"No--No of course he's said," the sight of his fist clenching made my grin widen, "I'm just clueless as to why you'd delay your meeting with him to say hello to little old me."

"Well, that was of course unintentional, I was actually trying to find the cause of all the carriages in my way," I motioned towards the busy road. "It was completely accidental that you and your 'friends' were the culprits."

"My apologies," his fingers clicked, several men gulping as their brows visibly sweated-- "No need to loiter, Men!" Their backs straightened with Klaus' clap, "Hurry to it and remove what blocks the beautiful ladys' path," still they were frozen--"NOW!" I hid my flinch when they sprung into action, hurrying to their transport to aid my escape.

"Thank you, Klaus. I'm very grateful," I offered a small curtsy, stopping in my turn when the corner of my eye saw him take a step forward.

"Well, maybe you can repay me with an audience during your stay in New Orleans. I'd hate for my brother to steal all your attention through your visit," my lips twitched at the obvious order.
