Turns out we never did get to talk about it when I woke up because Bentley was gone. I rolled over to find my glasses and phone on my nightstand next to the bed. I immediately called Jessie to come pick me up from the pack house. That was the last I saw of Bentley for about a week. I had to go to Link myself to get cleared to swim again. He told me to take it easy and that he would be emailing Coach to tell her the same thing.
It's been about a week since everything has been back to normal and I haven't seen or heard from Bentley since he saved me from his father. I was kinda pissed at him, to say the least. I talked with Jessie about moving in with him and she was all for it but I was still on the fence because of the very fact he hasn't even sent a simple text.
It was only when I got a phone call that changed everything.
"Emersyn, dear." Maggie said over the phone. "I hate asking this of you but it's important."
"Sure, Maggie. What is it?" I was kinda worried.
"James has been asking to see you."
I couldn't help but think about Maggie and how she was holding up. Her own mate betrayed her son. James has been in the cells since Bentley found me.
"Oh." I know how much it pains her that her mate was now considered a traitor. I also know that James is a crazy bastard and when the love potion didn't work he tried to kill me.
"You don't have to come if you don't want to. Bentley's tried talking to him but he keeps asking to speak to you." She sounds like she's going to cry.
"I'll be there. I'll do whatever I can to help." I told her as I put on my shoes as left my apartment.
"Thank you, Dear." She whispered.
"It's not a problem. I'll be there soon." I hung up my phone after saying goodbye and quickly drove over to the pack house.
Maggie greeted me on the front porch and I went to enter the house.
"Not in there, Dear." I gave her a confused look as she motioned me to follow her around the house and into the woods.
"Maggie, where are we going?" I asked, I knew we were going to the cells but I thought they were through a tunnel in the basement.
"The cells for higher level personnel." She muttered.
She kept walking as I froze in my place. It didn't take me long to realize that I would be lost without her so I ran to catch up. I looped my arm with hers and gave her a small smile.
"It's gunna be okay. I'll see what he wants and I'll talk some sense into him." She gave me a forced smile like she's already tried that, but that wasn't going to stop me.
We got to the cells a little bit later. The entrance was just a plain metal cellar door with two guards standing in front of it.
"Luna," They bowed their heads slightly to Maggie. She nodded gratefully.
"Luna," They did the same thing to me.
"I--I'm not the Luna here." I was in shock, no one has referred to me as the Luna, just the Human.
"You are the true Luna in our eyes, Ms. Emersyn." One of the guards said.
It was my turn to force a smile. The guard who didn't speak opened the cellar door for me and Maggie and we walked down the stairs to which we were met with another guard. I heard the moaning and the screams to be let go. The ones that stood out though were the cat-calls directed at me. I ignored them and the guard taking us to James gave out a warning growl and that shut them up. I gave him a thankful look. I walked the rest of the way with my head held high as I was about to face the man that gave my mate the love potion.
