Quick note: So um, this is interesting. This story has gotten so many views (almost 700) so I can only assume that you all are enjoying it. But, I'm not getting any feedback. No votes or comments? Rod did find Shirley and the Acorn-flyer. Shirley was ok, since she had time to jump out and glide down to safety, but the flyer was totaled. Bea promised her she'd build another one, before sending Shirley home to rest.
At Headquarters, The Garage
Speedy, Bea, Rod and Dr. Hummings, a humming bird, were waiting patiently and worriedly for the cadets to return. Speedy and Bea had briefed Dr. Hummings on what they knew happened. The rest of which will be known once Penny and Brody returned.
A few moments later, the Aqua-wing emerged. Penny opened the top and told Speedy they needed help getting Swift out of the sub. Speedy nodded and flew into the Aqua-wing. He frowned when he saw his high flying student lying unconscious on the sub floor, with Brody sitting next to him supporting his head.
Speedy carefully picked him up and carefully flew him out of the sub and went over to Dr. Hummings. She checked Swift's pulse and breathing.
"His pulse is weak and his breathing is shallow. We have to get some oxygen into him before his heartbeat goes up and he has another cardiac arrest." Dr. Hummings explained. "Quickly, to the medical room." she said, and quickly took off to the medical room of the academy, with Speedy close behind. The others followed, except for Penny.
Once everyone was out of the garage, Penny got back into the Aqua-wing and took off.
Medical Room
"There. That should do it." Dr. Hummings said when she was done hooking Swift onto the medical equipment.
"You cadets did a good job performing CPR on him. I'm sure I don't need to say what would have happened if you didn't." she said.
"It was actually Penny who perform the CPR." Brody told them. It was then they realized that the penguin was missing.
"Wait. Where is Penny?" Bea asked.
"She went to retrieve the Flash-wing." Brody told them.
"What?! She went to retrieve the Flash-wing... by herSELF!?" Bea exclaimed.
"Penny knows her way around the area. She'll be ok." Brody said.
"That's not the point Brody. She would still need backup, just in case." Speedy stated.
"I offered to go with her, but she insisted I stay and tell you what happened. And as you know, from what I told you, it wasn't pretty. I don't think she would have been able to handle reliving what happened." Brody told them sadly. "You guys didn't see what I saw. It was heartbreaking to watch Penny break down from the penguin we all know and love. I never thought I'd ever see her like that."
"Realization of the heart."Dr. Hummings softly said, catching the attention of the four birds.
"Realization of the heart? What's that mean?" Rod asked.
There was a momentary pause.
"Tell me, is there anything going on between Swift and Penny." Dr. Hummings asked.
"Apart from friendship? No. Why?" Brody replied.
"It is possible, that Penny may have feelings for Swift, but she's confused about how she feels about him." Dr. Hummings explained. "This happening to Swift, caused her to realize how much she cares about him. However, I can't say for sure what it is she feels. That's for her to find out."
