Marinette: Ugh! I can't take another second of this! If he starts talking one more time about how amazing Lila is when she walks or how she thinks she's God's gift, I think I'm going to cry - or throw up! He's boring me to tears. Please, save me, Alya! I don't know how much more I can take!

I stared at my phone for a minute, waiting for a response before I sighed and pushed myself off the wall.

I walked out of the lady's room and back to where Adrien's sitting with his hands clenched around his phone.

Did something happen with Lila? I thought excitedly before immediately feeling guilty. I might not like them together, but being a vengeful and jealous cow would get me nowhere.

When I reached the table, I asked, "Is everything alright?"

He jerked back and looked up to glare at me. I took a step back, confused, and he shoved his chair back, fury scribbled across his face.

"How can you even ask me that?" he hissed and shoved his phone in my face.

I took it from him hesitantly and read the message on the screen. With a sinking stomach, I realised it was the one I had meant to send to Alya.

He ripped it from my hands. "If I bored you that much, you could have told me! I would have changed the subject! You didn't have to subject yourself to the torturous boredom of listening to me explain how happy I am!"

He shoved his phone back in his pocket. "And to think I actually thought of you as my friend."

"Adrien, I-" I gasped. "I didn't - I thought-"

"You thought what, Marinette? That it was funny to laugh at me behind my back?" he scowled at me and continued to talk when I tried to deny his words. "Were you even my friend in the first place? Or were you just another girl desperate to get into my bank account?!"

He spun to go and I felt a spark of rage ignite inside me. "How dare you."

He paused and glanced over his shoulder. "How dare you, Adrien Agreste! How dare you compare me to those filthy gold-diggers! I am nothing like them! Any one of them would have left you in the ditch the minute you asked for their help with another girl but I stayed! I stayed when they wouldn't have even bothered! So don't you dare compare me to them!"

"So what?! Now you deserve a gold medal? 'Wonderful work, Marinette! You got Adrien to think he had a friend before you stabbed him in the back'?!" he spun back, equally as infuriated. "So what you stayed? You still betrayed my trust! You took my trust and threw it out the window at the same time you started laughing at me!"

My palm itched to slap him. "I never laughed at you! And I certainly didn't stab you in the back!"

"Oh, really? So saying you'll help me with the girl I like and then moaning about it to Alya about how much of a bore I am, isn't backstabbing?! No, of course not. You should get the Friend of the Year award!" he snarled. "Had you actually been my friend, you could have told me to talk about something else (without being a backstabbing bitch!) but you weren't. Instead you laughed at me behind my back! If you had been a true friend, you would be happy that I was happy, and not try to ruin it for me!"

"Enough with the laughing behind your back! Never once did I laugh at you behind your back!" I stepped closer so that we were nose to nose and I stabbed him in the chest, hissing, "and if I were a true friend, I would have done this ages ago, instead of hiding behind my fear that you wouldn't listen.

"Wake up, Adrien! She doesn't love you - or even remotely like you! She's in love with your money! And yeah, she walks like she's God's gift because she thinks she is. When was the last time she actually talked about something that wasn't herself? No, don't interrupt me," I poked my finger in his face when he moved to open his mouth. "You may like her but she doesn't like you! Sorry to break up your little fantasy, but she's a self-obsessed cow who doesn't care about anything unless it involves her!"

"Do you know why I agreed to help you?" my voice turned softer, but nonetheless deadlier. "Because I thought if I saw you happy - even if it was with another woman - then I'd be happier too. But I wasn't! It killed me everyday to see you together, or to hear you talking about her constantly."

I took a deep, shuddering breath, surprised at the wetness around my eyes. "So I'm done. I'm done watching you throw yourself at a heartless skank like her. Help yourself. But if you truly know what's good for you, you'll dump her like the trash she is and find someone who loves you for the amazing person you are!"

I ripped money out of my purse and slammed it against the table before walking out, ignoring the stunned stares of the quietened cafe.

At the door, I looked back at him and added softly, "Goodbye, Adrien."
