Chapter Twenty-Four

The rooms were silent as the thickening tension grew. Everyone was in their own state of mind before we charged into Blazenhart. For one, this place was gigantic so the armies would be divided to take control of different sections. My father’s spies informed us on the location of the largest amount of enemy troops so that’s where a majority of our men would be going. They also informed us that the strongest will be by the main temple which is where they go to pray and harness their strength.

We received educated guesses as to where our people were being kept so that was where a selected few of us were targeting first. We would, no doubt, encounter some sort of trap so we are bringing Arianna along with us to predict that sort of movement.

“We will find them and bring them home” Talen’s voice made me snap out of my trance to see he was stood beside me. He stood looking prepared for battle yet I hadn’t been told he was fighting with us.

I opened my mouth to ask but he scoffed, “Of course I will be fighting. Yasmin and I were bred for such purposes” he explained making me understand. I looked him over to see he was wearing a similar uniform to mine except with a different emblem and colour.

He wore a grey breast-plate which was fitted perfectly so it wouldn’t put him at any disadvantage, grey cuffs which went over his hand to his elbow, a leather armoured skirt which reminded me of a kilt, an under-layer of armour, leg-cuffs, sandals and perched on his hip was his sword.

I found myself placing my fingers on the emblem which was situated on his left hip. It was a three-headed hellhound which sounded terrifying.

“It’s scary to think that just last year I was playing Xbox and stressing over my finals which I was going to fail” I announced.

“A lot can change” he informed me. I looked up to him and nodded before taking a step back. “Put your plate on, I’ll strap you up” Talen offered. I grabbed the black breastplate which was to my right and slid it over my head and rolled my shoulders to get into place.

Talen helped fix it then started tightening it. I glanced at my reflection to see the breast-plate with the formation of the muscles on the outside. My uniform was all black which made me clearly stand out against a light grey-coloured army. “Don’t worry Raum,” Arianna appeared looking her usual self. She didn’t need to put armour on because obviously she was just a reflection. “Your army wear the same colour yet the feathers on the top of your helmet are red and black whilst theirs is just black” she informed me.

“We won’t let anything happen to you” Talen promised as he helped me finish off my armour. He tightened the cuffs around my calves then stood tall behind me. “Raum, Raziel has your sword outside ready to be presented to you” Arianna informed with a calming smile.

After taking a couple of breaths to myself I walked outside with my helmet perched under my arm. When I got outside I could sense the armies awaiting orders from their superiors. Thankfully I wasn’t the only one leading the army. There were three other demons who my Father entrusted with this.
