Chapter Twenty-Seven: Final ;~;

              I couldn’t help but notice how restless Merlin was acting as the wind lashed the trees around outside. The weather reports had expressed how the storm had come out of nowhere and had categorised it under red warning. Red was quite dangerous so people were urged to stay indoors and remain calm which I was doing whilst watching ‘In The Flesh’. I found myself feeling rather pathetic since I’m the son of all things evil yet I’m terrified of zombies.

“Merlin, come here” I patted an empty space beside me on the brown-leather couch. My hellhound-ish beagle continued to pace back and forth in front of the door but at the sound of my voice dashed over and jumped on my lap. He rolled onto his back with his paws dangling in the air and made the whine for attention. I looked at the puppy then sighed and started scratching his stomach. He had well and truly adapted to his new body.

My eyes found the television screen again and I was glued to the show. Merlin must have not appreciated my sloppy pats because he bit my finger. “Ouch” I scrunched up my face as I looked to my finger. Merlin would never harm me on purpose but he will always tell me when I am irritating him.

I looked to my finger and as I was inspecting it all the electricity cut off with a ‘thud’. “And that would be the mains” I groaned shuffling on the sofa. I remained where I was for a couple of minutes hoping that they would come back on by themselves but it was apparent that that wasn’t going to happen.  With a sigh I shuffled on the sofa disturbing Merlin from his comfy position. He opened his eyes with a glare but when he noticed the darkness of the room he became alert and jumped to his paws with his little tail wagging.

Oh how ferocious” I mocked.

I went over to the mantelpiece by the chimney and grabbed a candle which I lit straight away. Being a human torch comes in handy from time to time. “Alll-righty then, let’s go find the power-box.” I started walking down my newly polished wooden floors in my fluffy slippers until I got to the box which was by the kitchen. I tried flicking the switches which would usually reboot the system but- lucky me, it didn’t work. I cursed under my breath and went into the kitchen which had a door leading out the back but immediately stopped when I saw the door flapping open.

Zombies? No, stop it Raum.

I set the candle down on the counter and went to the door and was relieved to see that the latch had snapped off by the gusts of wind. As I was pulling it shut I noticed a silhouette just outside the tree-line of the forest which surrounded my cabin. The person or thing was slouched on the ground but didn’t seem to be moving.       “What if he’s an axe murderer?” I mumbled as I found myself stepping out of the door and slowly moving across the decking.

       “What if he has planned for me to see him?” As I was freaking myself out I didn’t stop to think about the strong hails of wind which were so strong that they were making the trees sway. I gripped onto the railing hoping that the wind would die down for a minute or two so I could reach the figure but it didn’t seem like it would. From beside me I heard creaks in the decking then breaks. I looked to see Merlin in his true form dragging himself along by digging his claws into the wood.
