Chapter 10

I soon fell asleep on one of the couched in the room.

When Andrei left so did all the others who had stayed, including Damian. They had apparently been here before and knew the place and some people here. They said we could roam around here except for the top floor because that was the portal floor and to not attract attention ourselves.

''What do we do now?'' Katie asked me. I had shrugged and she and Edward decided to go take a look around. I didn't want to, I just wanted to sit down. I had and then I soon got bored and when two kids came yelling and playing in here, I had asked them if they owned any books I could borrow. One of them came back with a teen book that was from the mortal world that belonged to their older sister. I thanked them and said I would soon return it to them.

A few hours later I had fallen asleep and now I awoke on the couch and saw that it was only six in the morning. One of the guards last night told me that Andrei wasn't coming that same night and that there was a bathroom I could shower in and change.

So I went to that little apartment and used their bathroom to shower and change.

This wasn't just a Portal Club. It was also a place that some of Demark's people stayed at when they want to start a life out in the mortal and have no where to go so they rent a place here until they get a job and a real apartment. Or they stay here when they are just in vacation.

Apart from the basement and first floor, everything else was very nice. The halls were a bit narrow that could barely fit two people walking side by side, but there were a lot of little apartments. There were two bedrooms, a decent size bathroom, living room and kitchen.

It kind of amazed me because even though I've heard of these types of places, I didn't picture it like this. Demark and Hernand were two completely different things so I guess it was possible that they did this differently.

Hernand actually built a type-like hotel. A motel, I guess you could call it. It was about 6 floors, about five or six apartments on each floor. There were two bedrooms, sometimes three, a bathroom, a kitchen and a living room.

The first floor would be of the common room. There was a TV room where you could sit and watch TV with your friends and neighbors. There was a study room where you would go and read or write or use the computer but it was always silent in there. There was also the main kitchen there where you could order ''room service.''

You couldn't stay there forever though. Sometimes you had to pay, but if you really didn't have the money they would let you off and let you live there for a while. If you haven't moved out but have a job, they will either kick you out or have you paying money. If you haven't found a job some of the Hernand people who deal with these kinds of things help you find a job and a place to live.

I knew Demark and Balrk did these things too, I just didn't expect it to be like this. I guess I was stereotyping Demark and imagined them to have worse conditions and be a little harsher. I guess I was wrong.

I was told that if I wanted something to eat, there were some people down in the basement who were preparing for the night when the club opened and would make me some breakfast.

I headed downstairs, without my sword or traveling bag. Now without so many people in the room, I could see how big the room actually was. It was pretty big and I guess it had to be since there had to be the DJ station, the dance floor, the tables and the bars and things.
