Song On The Beach/ Photograph - Arcade Fire
(The picture on the top is their apartment)Her hand was in mine as we walked down the shore. The light breeze blew her bright pink hair in ever direction but she still looked beautiful.
"Remus lets go into the water." We stopped walking and we watched the water climb towards our feet.
I smiled down at her and reached down my shirt to pull it off. Her soft hands stopped me.
"Do you really think that's a good idea? I mean people will see." I frowned and nodded. Nymphadora, I mean Tonks, never really liked seeing me topless. She thought it was embarrassing for her to be seen with me this way.
I knew she was only joking. She pulled off her shirt and jeans, waiting for me to remove my pants so we can go in.
She took my hand in hers and we slowly walked into the water. We stopped when it reached our waists. My shirt stuck to my skin tightly due to the water. Tonks made a face. "What is it love?"
"You look disgusting." She mumbled.
"Pardon?"
"I said you look disgusting." The voice came from behind me. It was Tonks. Another voice joined, then another, and another.
"You look disgusting."
"Do you think looking like that is attractive?"
"No one will ever love you like this."
Each phrase was a new Nymphadora. I pulled myself underwater to cancel out the voices but they only got louder.
And then everything was black.
The boy lurched forward in his bed gasping for air, heart beating rapidly.
It was only a dream. Except it wasn't.He reached for his phone and checked the time.
7:35amA groan escaped the boys mouth and he fell back into his bed. Remus' ex girlfriend was toxic. He never realized how bad it was until Lily overheard a conversation between the couple. The memory ran threw Remus' mind.
"I told you not to wear that. Everyone can see your fat arms. You look dreadful." Tonks glared at the boy in front of her.
"What did you just say?" Lily got between the two.
"I'm sorry, who are you?" She rolled her eyes at the girl known to be "know-it-all-Evans".
"I'm Lily Evans, and this here is my right fist." Lily punched Tonks right in the nose and took Remus by the arm. "Pleasure to meet you." And the new best friends left the party.
Remus chuckled at the memory. He had known Lily from astrology club. They never spoke much because Tonks never let Remus be friends with the girl.
Lily didn't approve of the couple because Tonks would say cruel things to Remus. Tonks didn't like Lily simply because she smiled at her boyfriend.
Remus decided to get up and make some breakfast for Lily. He sat up in his bed slipping on an oversized grey sweater. The tall boy shuffled his way to the bathroom. He glanced at himself in the mirror sighing before going on to brush his teeth.
Their apartment was the perfect size for the two of them. There are 3 bedrooms, a small kitchen, living room and a balcony. The extra room was used as a small library. The friends loved to read.
Lily had graduated top of their class with Remus following behind in second. He would've been first if he hadn't missed two months of school.
The home was decorated with plants and smelled of vanilla. Lily wanted their place to have a cozy feel to it. And it did.
Remus gathered the ingredients to make Lily's favorite pancakes. While the food was cooking he quickly made some tea for the both of them. He slowly sipped his being careful not to burn himself.
When the food was done he placed the pancakes on a tray along with sliced bananas, strawberries, a cup of tea, and a flower. He made his way to her room quietly.
"LILY WAKE UP THERES A FIRE"
The red headed girl woke up frantically looking for her phone to call the firemen. She stopped when she heard Remus laughing like a maniac beside her.
"Remus you foul little git." She was about to hurl a pillow at his head but froze. "Are those pancakes?" Remus nodded and handed her the tray of food.
"Aw Remmy you're the best" Remus smiled and sat at the end of her bed. "W'as the ma'er" Lily's mouth was full of fruit."It happened again." Remus looked down at his hands and picked at his sweater sleeves. These nightmares happen less frequently than before, but they still hurt him just as bad every time.
Lily placed the food on her bedside table and made her way towards the boy. She wrapped her arms around him from behind and placed her head on his back. Remus began to shake letting quiet sobs leave his mouth.
"It's alright Remmy. That's over now. You're perfect and no one should tell you otherwise." Remus held onto her hand that was placed on his chest while Lily traced small circles on his back.
The two friends sat there until Remus was calm. He sighed and let go of Lily's much smaller hand. "I can't believe I let her treat me that way. I'm pathetic." Remus placed his head between his hands.
"She was a terrible girlfriend Remus. A terrible person even. Don't blame yourself for a mistake she made. She lost the sweetest boy to ever live." Lily proceeded to finish her breakfast. Remus got up from the bed and sighed.
"Yeah, I suppose you're right. Thanks Lil." She looked up at him with a smile.
"Have you eaten yet?" She watched his face carefully. Remus nodded and made his way out of the room. Lily following behind with her tray. "Remus, I know it's hard but..."
"Lily, not right now. I'm gonna get changed and head to the bookstore. Would you mind coming with?" The small girl nodded and watched Remus head to his room.
I know this is like hella long but I needed to get a bit of Remus' story in. Each chapter is going to have a song that inspired me while writing it.
