Somewhere Tonight - Beach House
They had been driving for about 15 minutes now.
Remus sped up a little bit, making the boy behind him hold onto him tighter. They drove along Lake Shore Drive until they came up to their exit. They passed docs littered with boats and can feel the air getting colder as they got closer to the water. They parked the bike and hopped off. Sirius hung their helmets on the handles. Remus had already began walking away.
"Come on star child!" Sirius jogged over to the smaller boy. They walked along a patch of sand and grass before having to hop down big steps. Remus led the way to a sort of pier that seemed to go pretty far into the water. Sirius followed behind Remus and they made their way onto the pier.
They reached the end and Remus sat down. He patted the space next to him so sirius would join. Sirius took off the bag and placed it between them before sitting down too. The stars shone brightly above them.
"This is beautiful." Sirius spoke softly. As if the beauty would fade if he spoke any louder.
"It is. They aren't as bright as they should be because of light pollution but they're still breathtaking. This is my favorite spot." Remus began. "I used to come here with my girlfriend but now I come to just clear my head. I figured it would help calm you down with the stress from moving or whatever."
Girlfriend. Sirius' chest tightened. Of course he's straight. Why would you make any difference? He was just trying to be friends. Sirius began to pick at his sweater sleeves letting his feelings wash over him. He never really had much control of them.
"Are you alright Sirius?" Remus said in a soothing tone. Sirius began dissociating, slowly feeling his emotions change. His jaw clenched as he stared out to the water. Remus hesitated before placing his hand of Sirius'. The warm contact snapped Sirius out of his trance.
Remus' chocolate brown eyes met Sirius'. He flashes Sirius a warm smile before removing his hand and reaching for the bag. He pulled out the old constellation book. As he flipped through the pages, Sirius studied his face.
He noticed the sprinkle of freckles on Remus' nose, his rosy lips, a scar that went from his ear to his jaw and his wavy curls that flopped in front of his face. When he first met the other, he seemed really quiet and almost scared of Sirius and his friends. But once they spent dinner together the other boy seemed to open up like a flower in spring.
Remus found what he was looking for and turned his head towards Sirius. He smiled as Sirius turned away, noticing Sirius' cheeks getting pink. He knew Sirius had been watching him.
"It isn't polite to stare." Remus giggled. Sirius loves that sound, he ran a hand through his hair and smiled, his cheeks getting even more red. -He has a girlfriend. Stop getting your hopes up.- His smile instantly fell.
"So, teach me about these stars Lupin."
•••
Remus let out a soft yawn, resting his head on Sirius' shoulder making the taller boy tense up. Sirius pulled out his phone to check the time.
1:35am
They had lost track of time talking about the sky and getting to know each other. It was almost a perfect night.
"We should head back home, it's pretty late Rem." Remus let out a little whine. Sirius began to pick up their things and pack their bag while Remus sat down rubbing his eyes. When Sirius was finished he reached out his hand to help Remus up. The smaller boy shook his head.
"Carry me." Sirius thought he was joking but he seemed sure. Sirius knelt down and scooped the boy up bridal style. He was lighter than Sirius thought he'd be and Sirius was as strong as he looks.
Remus nuzzled his head into Sirius' neck making the boys heart flutter. He smelt like vanilla with a faint scent of cigarettes. Remus found it comforting. They reached the bike and Sirius put the boy down gently. He then picked up the helmet Remus was wearing before and placed it on the younger boy.
"I'll drive back, I think I remember the way." he put on his own helmet and motioned for the other boy to climb on. Remus wrapped his arms around Sirius' torso and placed his head on his back. Sirius thought his heart was going to explode in his chest.
"Ready?" Remus hummed in response and they were off. Sirius tried to get home as fast as he could while being safe so the younger boy can get home and sleep.
After some time the two boy got back to the apartment. Sirius gently unwrapped the boys arms from him and got off while keeping the younger boy in place. He picked up Remus like before and made his way inside trying his best not to wake him.
When they reached Remus' door, Sirius shook him a little to wake him up. Remus rubbed his eyes and Sirius let him down slowly. Remus reached in his pockets for his keys, dropping them when he took them out.
"I'll get them." Sirius reached down and picked them up. Remus pointed to the right one and Sirius opened the door. The smaller boy shuffled into his place throwing his bag on the floor before turning to Sirius.
"Thanks for tonight. I had a great time." His voice was deep but still smooth. Sirius nodded his head and walked backwards to his door.
"I had a good time too. Goodnight Remus." Remus smiled lightly before slowly closing his door.
"Goodnight love." the door shut.
