The week continued, and nothing much happened. I wasn't in my best mood for days. Soon enough it was the Friday. And the school day went by as usual.
"Y/n! Welcome to the team! So this is our org room, this is where we hold our meetings and where we write together sometimes," Jisoo unnie said as she showed me around the school newspaper organization room. The other members were busy writing and editing articles and pictures. They introduced their selves one by one with friendly faces, I bowed to them.
"How are you feeling so far? Don't be shy to ask for help or anything, arraseo?" Jisoo unnie said to me and touched my shoulder as we sat next to each other on a table. I nodded politely and tried my best to smile at her.
"So basically, we come up with weekly newspapers. Usually, the cross-school competitions and school council campaigning season are the busiest weeks for us here. Be sure to accomplish tasks given to you on schedule," she said to me and started handing me papers and documents. "These are some sample articles written last school year, if you need some examples."
"For next week, the members and I have already agreed that we tackle on our cross-school competitors. Of course, we make articles in a non-biased mindset so be sure to keep that in mind while writing about Bangtan High and Yeolset High," She said to me and I started jotting down notes and scanning through the old articles as she continued to explain their past topics and concepts as an example.
I noticed that they got actual responses from students from Yeolset High, specifically those who participate in the competitions. I also saw pictures of students from their school, as well as ours. I continue to scan through the pages, I saw my brother's picture in one article entitled 'The Pressure of being the School Council President for Three Consecutive Terms'.
"Unnie, does this mean we actually interview the students?" I asked in a small voice. "Neh! Students from both Bangtan High and Yeolset High. And you should always be present in all school activities and programs," Jisoo unnie replied simply, as if it was a norm in the industry.
"We usually go in pairs of two or three members per article, but due to our shortage of new recruits and members we have to individually do the work." she said to me carefully and I nodded but still quite confused.
It seemed like a ton of work for one member. "I advice that you take your own camera to take pictures, by the way. A voice recorder would be convenient for interviews too. And you can use your laptop and submit softcopies of your articles, but I also accept hardcopies if you feel more comfortable writing on paper." She said to me. I could tell that she was trying her best to make me feel comfortable but I still felt a little overwhelmed.
"Don't worry, you won't get assigned weekly as a newbie. And I can always help you, I'm in charge of proofreading everything anyways." Jisoo unnie kept her smile on her face and lightly chuckled, probably sensing that I was overwhelmed with the workload. No wonder not a lot of students want to participate in this school organization.
"Okay, we'll start next week then! I'll take you with me when I conduct an interview and make a draft so you could see how it's done in action." She winked at me and giggled. She made and 'ok' sign with her fingers and I nodded.
Soon enough, we were done with my orientation and we said our goodbyes. Jisoo unnie was so friendly and nice, she hugged me before I walked out the door.
Aish. I couldn't hate her. She's too perfect.
It was dark out and the school hallway was empty and quiet as I walked alone. I could only hear my own footsteps. I spotted Taehyung sitting on the benches near the school gate. The light post above him made his skin look like he was glowing. He was still wearing his basketball jersey and had a bandana wrapped around his forehead. I bit my lip to stop myself from telling him he looked extra attractive tonight.
