Today is Bangtan High's first basketball game against Yeolset High for this season's interschool competitions. I snap pictures of the scene for our school newspaper.
The bleachers were filled with Bangtan High students, and the other side was also full of Yeolset High students. It felt overwhelming to see so much people in one room, it's been a long time since I've watched a basketball game.
Last year, Jungkook and I skipped the competition to play Overwatch at his house while Taehyung and Jimin watched the basketball game. Taehyung loves watching and playing basketball, and Jimin is a huge fan of Yoongi oppa's basketball skills.
This year, all of us are watching to show support. Of course, my brother, Hoseok oppa and Jin oppa always watch Yoongi oppa's basketball games. Jimin, Jungkook, Minhee and I came to watch Taehyung play for the first time.
"As student council president, I'd like to give a warm welcome to all the Yeolset High students and faculty, especially the Yeolset Basketball Team. Please give them a round of applause! Welcome to Bangtan High!" Namjoon greeted the people enthusiastically through the mic as he walked in the middle of the basketball court. The students clap their hands.
"And another round of applause for our very own Bangtan Basketball Team!" Namjoon grins and claps along with the crowd. I take a few pictures of our student council president as he delivers his welcome speech.
The crowd went wild, all the cheers and Highschool chants filled the basketball court as the players entered and lined up in the middle of the court.
"I wish both teams good luck and may we all play fair and square, FIGHTING!" Namjoon grinned and bowed.
Drums and chants boomed from both sides of the court, all the students from Bangtan and Yeolset cheered for their own teams.
The members of each team bow to each other before the game starts. I take a few pictures of this moment, this is probably the only time when Yeolset students show respect to other students.
I see familar faces from the visitor's team such as Kim Mingyu and the foreign looking boy named Hanseol. Unsurprisingly, all the members looked abnoxious and mean as they glared at our team. On the first row of the bleachers, I spot Jeon Wonwoo snapping pictures of the event for their school newspaper as well.
On our team, I see our team captain Yoongi oppa looking very serious with a straight face contrasting Taehyung's goofy and excited expression. The rest of the team members look confident and ready to play with friendly smiles across their faces.
The tallest boy from our team is positioned as the center. Mingyu is positioned as Yeolset's center, and he towers among all the people in the court. He looks over the players and smirks, noticing his height advantage.
The ball is released in the air, for a very brief second the whole crowd goes silent as the anticipation grows.
Unfortunately, the ball is grasped by Mingyu and thrown across court to their team. The Yeolset crowd side of the court goes wild.
"Aigo..." Jin oppa sighs beside me. "Aniya! Watch Yoongi steal the ball like a pro." Hoseok oppa says confidenly and claps as we all watch Yoongi oppa sprint while the ball is live.
Taehyung runs to the side of our ring. "What is he doing standing there idle?!" I yell and Jungkook laughs at me. It's his first game and he isn't running along with all his members! I mean, isn't that the whole purpose of basketball?! I panicked and pull on the hems of my skirt. I look through my camera and zoom in on Taehyung's face.
