' she was the devil in disguise '
"YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL." Ellie grinned as Steve Rogers walked into the room with a smile on his face.
"Thank you. ты сам не выглядишь плохо." She winked at him, a cheeky glint shining in her eyes. Steve rolled his eyes as she changed her language but didn't she say anything. He held his arm out.
"After you, milady." He mocked bowed, and Ellie copied his actions but curtsied instead.
"Why, thank you, kind sir." She said, mocking his accent. The two shared a laugh before they walked downstairs, to where the party was being held. The two blondes headed down to the pool table where a dark-skinned guy met them.
"Steve." The male grinned, doing a weird bro-thing with him. Ellie watched the genuine smile crawl onto his face.
"Ellie, this is Sam, my best friend. Sam, this is Ellie." The said blonde smiled and waved.
"It's nice to meet you." The guys played pool, making jokes as Ellie scanned her surroundings, eyes scanning over every person in the room, making sure that none of them was a threat.
"Ellie." Looking up, she watched as Steve and Sam finished playing and started making their way upstairs. Ellie followed them, listening to their conversation about what happened at the Hydra base before.
"Sounds like a hell of a fight, sorry I missed it." Ellie glanced at Sam to see him raise a brow and was surprised that he wasn't bothered by it.
"If I had known it was going to be a firefight I absolutely would have called you." But Steve's response told her otherwise, but she had a feeling that he didn't mind at all. For some reason, Ellie felt safe with these two. She felt like she could trust them just as much as they could trust her.
"No, I'm not actually sorry. I'm just trying to sound tough." The two blondes laughed at Sam, who leant against the railing of the short glass wall. "I'm very happy chasing cold leads on our missing person case." Ellie rose a brow, glancing at Steve, who smiles sympathetically. "Avenging is your world. Your world is crazy." Sam said as he looked over at everyone standing in the room, chatting with their friends and strangers.
"Be it ever so humble." Steve sighed, a glass of whiskey in his hands, which was previously Ellie's, but the older man did not want a teenager to drink.
"Who is this missing person?" Ellie asked, eyes narrowing at the two guys, who glanced at each other. The blonde male sighed, leaning against the rail as well.
"It's nothing." Ellie just hummed but didn't press on the matter as she could tell it hurt the older male a bit.
"So, have you found a place in Brooklyn yet?" Sam asked as he broke the awkward silence that fell upon the three.
"I don't think I can afford a place in Brooklyn."
"I can pay." Ellie piped, a small warm smile on her face. Steve chuckled softly, ruffling her hair at the genuinely of Ellie's offer. He knew she would do anything for him and, to be honest, he would do the same thing for her. The two blondes had this special bond, a bond in which will never break and could also separate the whole avenger group if misused.
"Thanks, kid." He smiled warmly at her.
"Well, acasă este acasă." Ellie flashed him a smile as she fixed her hair, not at all bothered. Sam rose a brow at the young blonde but shrugged it off, chuckling softly. A while later, Steve and Ellie separated from Sam and stood by Thor, who was drinking some alcohol from a flask.
"I gotta have some of that!" Said one of the older party guests. He looked to be in his late seventies the way his skin crinkled and Ellie scrunched up her nose as the smell of alcohol reek off them.
"Oh, no, no, no." Thor shook his head, chuckling lowly. "See this, this was aged for a thousand years, in the barrels built from the wreck of Brunhilde's fleet, it's not meant for mortal men." Thor pours the drink into two glasses and hands one to Steve.
"Neither was Omaha Beach, blondie." Ellie chuckled softly, too quiet for anyone to hear. The man was amusing; she knew this wasn't going to be good. "Stop trying to scare us. Come on." Thor glanced at Steve, who motioned to pour some in the man's cup. Thor sighed.
"Alright." The Asgardian pours some of the drink into the older males glass.
"Can I have some?" Ellie asks, pulling out her puppy dog face, knowing that Thor would never resist her puppy dog eyes. Thor nods and pours some into a glass, giving her a slight warning which she shook off before downing the whole glass. Thor and Steve watched in shock and surprise as Ellie let out a content sigh, shaking her arms before a smile stretched across her face.
"Ahhh. Now that's some alcohol." Thor chuckled loudly, patting the girl on the back with a proud smile.
"Well done, little witch." The two laughed while Steve patted Ellie's head fondly. Just like before, the two blondes spilt up with the God and headed over to the bar where they saw Bruce and Natasha talking before the redhead walked away.
"It's nice," Steve said as the two walked up to the scientist and doctor.
"What-what-what is?" He stuttered, confused. Ellie could tell that the doctor was innocent by heart and hated how he could turn into such a strong and scary monster.
"You and Natasha," Ellie answered, a fond smile on her face. Bruce felt his face heat up, red-painted all over his face.
"No, we haven't. That wasn't..." He trailed off, too embarrassed for any words.
"It's okay," Ellie said, smiling genuinely at the smart best friend of Tony Stark, a person she despised but didn't take that upon Bruce as the blonde actually liked him.
"Nobody's breaking any by-laws. It's just; she's not the most...open person in the world." Steve continued. "But with you, she seems very relaxed." Bruce Banner shook his head, and Ellie knew he was in denial. His demons consumed him, and the only way he could get away from them was when he was with the redhead.
"No, Natasha, she...she likes to flirt." Steve shook his head, a kind smile on his face as he too knew they both liked each other, but Bruce was too scared to admit as he felt like he would be rejected and he also thought that she deserved better.
"I've seen her flirt, up close. This ain't that. Look, don't maybe the world's leading authority on 'waiting too long', don't. You both deserve a win." Steve then walks off, leaving his statement hanging in the air, the words processing through the brown-haired male's head. Ellie quickly followed after the older blonde, giggling when she heard Bruce Banner yell after them, well, more Steve than her.
"Wait, what do you mean, 'up close'?"
