Silverrise and Sunset led Malachite to their den where a raven waited to drop the news of which animal would be their next dinner.
Malachite kept the puppies company while the other three headed out to hunt. On the ledge of the rock there was a nest for the raven family and and two young raven chicks were waiting patiently for their parents to return with food scraps
Malachite could smell the deer meat before it was brought into the den. Of course the wolves had left half of it in the clearing for other animals including bears to scavenge off of it. The female had ate her share and the puppies came to her and let them eat from her mouth. Malachite smiled.
"Come eat with us, Malachite," said Sunset. "My sister and I are thrilled to have a dinner guest."
The reddish brown wolf was so friendly Malachite could not resist the opportunity to be around other animals.
"Don't worry we wolves don't ever kill without performing a ritual called Lochinrvy (also known as acknowledgement of the importance of the prey)." said Silverrise, "it's our duty make sure our prey is recognized as important so that waste is never left behind."
"I know," replied Malachite.
"Rocky play nice with your sisters," snarled Sunset.
"Yes, brother, sorry," whimpered the grey fluffy wolf pup.
"Apology accepted," replied Phoenix who had a red coloring to her fur."
"Yes, apology accepted," stated Lola a wolf pup who had no color mixed into her coat & beautiful blue eyes. The same eyes her mother had. And tucked away gnawing on an old bone to keep his teeth in shape was the runt of the last litter only half Lola's size. He was also the youngest. In one week all the little ones would be weaned from the mother's milk. It was important that they be a part of the jungle. The black furball was name Buster for he was quite a handful when in the right mood.
Sunset walked over to him.
"Come on Buster let's stretch those legs of yours by going out to howl at the edge of the ledge."
"Thank you for the dinner but I should get back to my den before anything else finds it way in."
"Please do come and visit again soon," said Silverrise.
"Yes, please do. You're always welcome," stated Blackrow. From her nose to half up her back she was brown like cedar wood & from there onward to her tail she had black furWord Count: 419
