Chapter Twelve:

8 1 1

hey everyone! sorry in advance for all of the time skips, I know it can be a little confusing but I hope everyone can follow along... I just want to speed the story up and skip the in-between time. thanks sm! xoxo

time skip one month. school and shooting of Food Network Star begins today (well next chapter, but today)!!

I feel a little uneasy, but I always do on the first day. This time I am uneasy because I know for sure I am staying for a year and also this is my big senior year, college comes after this... my life is starting to shape up.

Lawrence Prep Academy is a quick subway ride and a small walk away. It is a large campus nearing the outskirts of the city. The best of the best go here supposedly. I could have easily gone to a public school but "the daughter of the best needs to attend the best" and all of those other sayings my dad has.

I was mailed my schedule and unfortunately, I have zero classes with Hailey and only one with Ryan leaving me to face the uninventable reality.

I will have to start making some friends today.

If moving made me realize one thing, it is that as you grow older your friendships are less and less likely to expand.

When I ran into Graceful it was the best friendship I had made ever. Better than Hailey, Ryan, or Micheal.

Walking into the gorgeous gates I feel almost at home. A similar feeling to when I walked into the apartment for the first time when we came back earlier this summer. At home but not.

I look around a little confused with all of the pathways, and when a bell rings and everyone disappears I know I am in for trouble.

But unlike those cheesy romance movies, I don't bump into the cute popular guy who picks up my papers and then leads me to the room I need to go to.

But we do end up paired together for bio.

"Welcome back everyone hope you had an amazing summer. Glad to see everyone found their notecard isn't that a first!"

I assumed that since I was a senior in high school she wouldn't make me introduce myself like some of the smaller schools and ones I went to when I was younger did.

But I assumed wrong.

"I want everyone to give a warm welcome to a new student joining us for her senior year of high school. Austyn, sweetie, want to stand up and introduce yourself."

And par usual all eyes go to me as I stand up and introduce myself in the familiar fashion.

"Hello my name is Austyn Thomas, this is the 14th place I have lived in and I am finally returning home after 8 years of moving around to different places."

"Very interesting! Please warmly welcome her to LPA! Now, why doesn't everyone exchange hello's with there seat partner, talk about your summers, get to know each other because this person will be your partner for the first half of the year. Then we will do classroom expectations and the stuff you will need and then I will let you out early, how does that sound?"

She gets a few half-hearted yes and mumbles.

"I may look old but that doesn't mean I don't like to be answered. How does that sound???"

She gets a more solid "good" and feels accomplished returning to her seat at the front of the room.

"My name is Austyn, as you probably heard."

"Aiden." He sticks out his hand, so I shake it.

"So... we are going to be partners for a while." I say stupidly.
