My previous thoughts ended when the doorbell rang again. I got up from the floor mumbling, "I swear Aaron what do you want no-" I stopped when I opened the door and didn't see Aaron standing there but..Gemma?
"We need to talk" She got right to it, walking in my house; almost stepping on Alvin. What's with people and wanting to talk to me today? I quickly picked up Alvin, holding him in my hands.
"About what?" I asked.
"Harry" She stated
~~~~~
"Why do we need to talk about him?" I asked. I have a feeling this is going to be a long talk so I walk to the couch and sit down, Alvin in my arms still.
"There is a lot of stuff you don't know and it's driving me insane." She tugs at her roots and biting her lip, something Harry and her have in common.
"Maybe there's a reason he hasn't told me yet." I reassured. "We barely even know each other."
"No, you don't know him" She shook her head. "He knows you, though."
"No, he knows the past Alison's. Not this one." I pointed to myself for emphasis. "This Alison is different. I'm different. He might know about my mom, but that's it. He doesn't know about all the shit I've been through and honestly...I don't know if he ever will."
"Alison I'm just trying to say, don't get involved with Harry. It's just going to cause you more trouble in your life. Trust me, been there done that." She tried to warn me but, me being me, didn't care what she said.
"Alison just don't get inv-"
"Who can I be with then? Aaron?" I interrupted her. I didn't want to bring him up but she's pissing me off. "Can I be with him or are you going to throw some bullshit excuse again?" She stopped pulling her hair, pacing around and just stopped. I'm pretty sure she stopped breathing for a little bit but, unfortunately, started again. Her face fell, lacking any kind of emotion.
"How fucking dare you." She spat. "I'm just trying to help you here but if you're going to be an ungrateful bitch then I might as well stop." She got closer. "Also, Aaron's mine. He's not yours, never will be. Get that through your thick skull."
"Oh really? Really?" I dared a step closer. "Then why was he just at my house a little bit before you came and begging me if we could talk. Guess what we talked about, c'mon guess." I prompted.
"What did you guys talk about?"
"How amazing our kiss was. How it was better than he's ever had. Even better than all the times he's kissed sluts like you." I spat, stepping closer. Each word I spoke dripped with venom, drilling them into her non-existent brain because if she had one she wouldn't be in my living room right now.
Before she could reply though, I heard my front door slam shut and saw a very angry Harry come into view.
"Oh my gosh, Harry!" She gushed, clinging onto him. "Thank god you're here! I was just trying to say how sorry I was about how I acted towards Alison and she just started saying this stuff."
"No, Harry I swear! Th's not what happened" I tried to reason with him. How fucking dare she! "Harry we need to talk, don't listen to what sh-"
"Alison, just shut up for a second!" He interrupted me, pushing Gemma away from him.
"Harry, you heard what she said to me. Why are you siding with her and not you're sister?" She had a look of hurt on her face, though it looked forced.
"Gemma, you broke contact with me a long time ago." He reminded her. "You're not my sister anymore."
"You know the reason for that!" She shouted, closing her eyes to regain her normal heart beat again.
"That was a long fucking time ago Gemma. Get over it!" Now Harry's shouting...
"They were my parents too! I had a right to know exactly what happened to them and when. How am I supposed to get over the fact that, my own brother, knew our parents died; without telling me! For over 5 years Harry, you didn't tell me! And guess who's fault it was that they're dead." Now she turned and pointed at me, "you."
I gasped. "How was it MY fault?" I retorted.
"If you never came into Harry's life then he wouldn't have been heart broken about you being dead, therefore getting into a fight with our mum and walking out of the house."
"No Gemma, it's my fault. I was sad that the only girl I loved, was dead. She's my everything and you know that. I didn't know how to act about her being gone. I was heartbroken." His cheeks heated up a bit but continuing anyways. "How was I supposed to know that, when I left to take a 5 minute walk, the house would burn down? From Aaron!"
My eyes widened. What? Aaron?
"He didn't fucking do it, Harry!" She argued.
"I saw him walk away with gas, Gemma!"
She sighed, rubbing her eyes.
"It wasn't him Harry." She said in a calmer voice.
"Whatever. You weren't there. You don't know what happened."
"Okay let's not fight about this." Gemma murmured
"I just want my sister back" He confessed
She looked down, murmuring "I need a little more time, Harry"
"You had long enough, Gemma." He reminded her "I need my sister."
"I need to find her again, she's been gone for a long time." She looked back and me, "Just remember what I told you and what you just witnessed." Leaving after muttering those words.
Harry sighed and sat down on the couch, me doing the same. Surprisingly, Alvin has been sleeping through that whole thing.
"When did you get a cat?" He asked, referring to the sleeping orange ball of fur in my arms.
"Oh uh. There's this new guy and he's in my photography class, we sit next to each other so we were partners, and he found the kitten and gave it to me." I explained.
"Is it a boy or girl?" He asked.
"Boy"
"What's his name?"
"Alvin"
It was silent for a while, the only sound coming from the light purrs of Alvin.
"When did we get a new guy?" Harry broke the silence
"Today" I replied
"What's his name?"
"Eric. Eric Lambert"
Harry's face fell, lacking any emotion.
"Did you just say Eric?" He asked
"Um, yeah"
"Do you happen to have his number?" He questioned, making me very confused but getting out my phone and handing it to him. After class Eric and I exchanged numbers, the reason unknown to me.
"Thanks." He handed me my phone back "Hey um, I have to go. See you later"
"Wait" I called after him before he left.
"Yeah?"
"What exactly happened to your parents?" I asked, putting Alvin down on the couch and walking closer to Harry.
"Can we talk about this later? I have something important to do real fast."
"Yeah, sure. See ya" I half smiled and shut the door after he left.
I sighed, and looked at Alvin on the couch. He looks so small compared to our big couch. I grabbed my keys, the list I made earlier and left to the store.
