Once upon a time, a very long time ago, there was a planet. A planet with red grass and great domed cities. This planet was home to a mysterious and powerful race. A race of great and terrible people: The Time Lords.
Born with two hearts so they could live for centuries, the Time Lords were super advanced and intelligent. When a Time Lord dies, he or she can cheat death in a very special way. A burst of golden biological energy erupts from their bodies, rewriting their cells and changing their appearance, even their personalities changed. Each Time Lord had thirteen of these 'regenerations' until they are spent forever.
As was mentioned, the Time Lords were super advanced and, as their names suggest, they could travel time and space. Each Time Lord had a name, a secret name which no other race knew. The rest of the universes knew them instead as titles. They were a great race. They were all-powerful. The planet, Gallifrey, was a beautiful world, orbiting between two suns. The planet stayed constant throughout time. Until it was destroyed in the Time War, the Great War. The War to End All Wars.
A race bent mindlessly on destruction, the Daleks, from the planet of Skaro, attacked the Time Lords. And so the war was begun. It lasted for a long time, fought across time. When all seemed lost, the remaining Time Lords considered activating The Moment, a weapon so powerful it had developed its own conscience. But a Time Lord, anticipating the eventual dismissal of this idea, acted. He stole The Moment and ran, intending to set off the weapon himself. But this story doesn't quite reach that point. This story of before the Time War and during it. This story is about a great hero, a Time Lord previously mentioned. His name is The Doctor.
