Natalie's POV
*flashback*
She looked out the window. Alex had just left the room moments ago to go see Jasper. The Jalex was real.
Out the window she saw the king. Royal robes flowed behind him, a crown rested on his head and in his hand was a sceptre topped with--- wait... the Time Orb! She instantly raced out of the room, the door slamming behind her. She had to tell them!
*flashback over*
She now raced over to the side of Jasper's cot and told them how she had found it, leaving out her thoughts about Jalex, unfortunately.
"Come on! We have to get it!" she exclaimed, bouncing up and down. "We can get out of here!"
Jasper glanced at Alex. His gaze said, What do you think? She glanced at him and then looked back up at Natalie. "I guess I could come with you. No, you're not coming Jasper. You have to heal." He had begun to protest, so she cut him off. He sighed and said,
"Fine. But you have to tell me everything!" Then, one of the nurses came over and told him to lay down. He did as she required, but not after giving her the evil eye, and she injected something into his arm. Natalie didn't know how she did it. Then she realized they must be in the Techno-Medieval Era. Where technology was mixed with medieval stuff. Well, at least they knew where they were. The nurse walked off and Jasper slumped onto the cot, asleep. Natalie ran out, expecting Alex to follow her, but when she reached the door and looked back, she saw Alex lightly kissing Jasper on the cheek. It was all she could do to turn away and not scream because it was juST SO ADORABLE!
Alex caught up with her and Natalie pretended to not see her blushing slightly. Natalie pushed back the smile that threatened to spread across her face and reveal that she had seen what she had done. Natalie lead Alex down the long, twisting hallways and out to the courtyard, where the king was standing at the edge, sceptre in hand. He was talking to one of his advisors and sure enough, topping his staff was the Time Orb.
"Great, now how do we get it?" Alex asked, turning to me for an answer.
"That'll be the hard part." she responded. Alex bit her lip and said,
"Alright," She looked at the Time Orb, and Natalie figured she was calculating different ways to get it. "I'll figure something out eventually. But great job on finding it! Now we can get out of here."
"Thanks. Now let's go check on your lover." Her cheeks reddened at that and she said,
"L-let's just, uh, go back..."
Natalie grinned, and they walked back through the halls that were bustling with people. She was SO in love.
----------ANOTHER TIME SKIPPY----------
Natalie and Alex were in their room that had been issued to them. It was a simple room, three spaces partitioned off by sheets to give privacy, and a main room that had a couple of benches and a table that was surrounded by small chairs. Natalie peered out the window. It had been an uneventful day, except for finding the Time Orb. The streets buzzed with civilians, they kicked up dust as they rushed from stall to stall, to shop to shop, across the street and back. Mothers chased after their children, dragging them back to their sides and scolding them for running off. Natalie opened the window, and a chilly breeze blew through it, causing her to shiver and pull a blanket around her. The blankets were slightly scratchy, but she didn't mind. It was better than what they had at home. The breeze ruffled the bangs that hung over Alex's eyes, and she brushed them behind her ear. She was trying to think of a course of action, and she had been at it for hours. Natalie pulled her strawberry blonde hair behind her ears. Then she heard Alex exclaim,
"I got it!"
She turned to look at Alex. "What?"
Alex gestured for her to sit next to her on one of the chairs that surrounded the table. She pulled herself to her feet and crossed the room to sit beside Alex. As she slide onto the chair Alex began to explain her plan.
"We would have to wait for Jasper to be healed before we do anything. He can pretend to be a blacksmith. We'll casually wander by the king if he walks through the streets and-"
"If?"
"Um yeah. That could be a problem, but we'll figure something out if that does happen. Anyways, he can walk up to the king and tell him that he's a blacksmith. Then he'll say that he noticed his staff was slightly broken. He can tell the king that he can take the staff to his shop and repair it. We can find something to replace the Time Orb with and take the Time Orb and get out of here after giving the staff back to the king."
Natalie nodded her head thoughtfully. "That should work. But what if it doesn't?"
"Then I've got nothing. The king may find it suspicious if we continuously try to get his staff."
"Alright. Now we just have to wait for Jasper to heal. That could take a few days though."
Alex nodded. "I know. We just have to wait."
"When do we tell him?"
"When he's healed. We don't want a lot of stress to be on him, and we don't want him to feel like we're rushing him to be healed."
"That's a good idea. He hates stress."
"Yeah. But we have to get out of here quickly. Just act normal around him for now. Act like we don't know how to get it. And also, let's not discuss the Time Orb with him. We'll get onto this subject and won't know how to get off."
"So we wait?" she asked her, for her confirmation.
"That's all we can do."
