(A/N: This story takes place before all of the other one-shots when you and Spock first meet.)

You step onto the Bridge of the Enterprise for the first time ever. There is only one other person present. He stands at his post, his back is to you, but you see pointed ears peaking out through his straight black hair. Immediately, you know him to be Commander Spock. He is the one who suspended your best friend, Kirk. You internally groan. Of course his station had to be right next to yours.

The Commander turns to face you. Your heart nearly stops. Hating him may be a bit harder than initially anticipated... He is much younger than you imagined. He has dark, intelligent eyes and high cheekbones. His jawline looks like it would cut you if you dared touch it. For a moment, you consider testing your theory. After several seconds of staring, Spock raises an eyebrow at you.

"Are you in good health?" He asks, his voice smooth as velvet. "Yes. I... I don't know what came over me. I am sorry," you say, looking away and turning red. "It is quite alright. I am Commander Spock." "I am Ensign (Y/F/N) (Y/L/N)."

The doors of the Bridge slide open and Captain Pike walks in. "Captain," you and Spock bow your heads respectfully. He smiles at you both and takes his place in the captain's chair. You sit at your station and try to get used to the controls. You conduct a several tests on the ship's functions, but seeing as you are still a cadet, cannot figure out how to disengage the external inertial dampener. You frown in confusion and bite your lip, trying to decide if you should ask Spock for help. Before you have a chance to ask, Spock walks up from behind you and calmly says, "you appear to be confused. Can I be of assistance?" Your heart-rate spikes. "I-yeah. I can't figure how to disengage the external inertial dampener." He nods in understanding and leans over you to reach the controls.

You do your best to focus, but his close contact and his clean scent made it impossible. You can hardly hear what he is telling you, so you swallow the lump in your throat and nod, pretending to know what he is telling you. Once he has finished, he stands upright again. "Thank you," you say, internally wondering if you could sabotage something else on the controls in order for him to be close to you again. He nods and walks back to his post.

With that, the Enterprise warps into its mission.
