Ashlyn POV

I can't believe Draytin said that he would date Grace. I thought he hated her. I guess I was wrong. Or maybe he just changed his mind. I don't know.

My friends and I (not including Kate) are sitting at the lunch table, eating lunch. Since Kate got mad at us, and stopped sitting and talking to us, our conversations have been kind of boring.

"So, we have to find a way to rule out some of these people on the list." I say, trying to make conversation.

"Yeah." Grace says, taking advantage of the conversation. "How are we going to do that?"

"We could follow them" I say

"You want to stalk them?" Caylie asks, starting to laugh.

"Is there any other option?" I ask, also starting to laugh.

They stare at me, not laughing anymore. "You actually want to stalk them?" Alex asks.

"Yeah, isn't that like, illegal?" Cheryl adds.

"So is blackmailing" I say, in my defence.

"I am not going to stalk anyone" Grace says. I forgot. She can't break any rules. It's against her 'nature'.

"Can't you just break this one little rule?" I ask, with pleading eyes.

She stares at me. "The. Law. Is. Not. A. Little. Rule" she says, taking huge breaths between each word. "I am not breaking the law!"

"Fine." I say, rolling my eyes. "How else will we rule anyone out then?"

"I don't know" she says, looking puzzled.

"So, are you agreeing that we can follow them."

She is quiet. "Fine" she whispers. Her voice is quiet that I have to lean in close to hear.

"Thank you!"

Grace POV

I cannot believe it. I am agreeing to break a rule. And not just any rule. A law. I don't know what has gotten into me.

"I don't know what's gotten into me" I say to Caylie over the phone, 3 hours later, after school.

"It's not that big of a deal, Grace" she says, and I know she is rolling her eyes right now. I can just tell.

"Not a big deal? NOT A BIG DEAL? This is the law, we are talking about!"

"Calm down Grace!" she says. "You will be fine."

"I don't know if I will"
